I think really what would be nice would be for there to be a unified theme mechanism (I do believe that freedesktop.org is working on this) that will allow Gnome/KDE to switch the theme for GTK/QT at the same time. That way the idea for the MetaTheme that Gnome has would apply to most every application (since anymore, applications are almost always either QT or GTK). At least then those whining always about an inconsistant desktop look/feel wouldn't have anything to whine about.

I'm actually surprised that Xandros (since they are targetting the corporate desktop) did not do this themselves. They could easily have installed the gtk-plastig debian packages to make Gimp and Gnumeric fit in nicely with the rest of the desktop.

I still stand by my comment that having a Genome is better.

Okay, I just installed FC2 yesterday. Now that I've tried out Gnome 2.6, I say go with KDE.

I don't really like Gnome 2.6. And 2.6.0 has a stupid, stupid bug (can't open dot files). 2.6.1 fixes it, but that isn't in FC2 yet.

Seems that Gnome has been getting a slagging off in some Linux quarters.

That's what I'm talking about, but that looks like it only makes GTK look like QT, what about making QT look like GTK?
