Post up a drawing of your floor plan and including where furniture is. SOmetimes it's not best to move together if the room is too narrow. If that's the case angling them inward would be best (this is done most of the time even if there is space)

A couple of months back, I enquired after cables and interconnects at a hi-fi store in out capital city. The guy told me they don't recommend any cable and advise not to buy one just like that. They advise to take a few samples along (posting bail) and play around with them for a few weeks. They would suggest a few to pick from though if asked.
Having said that, I once changed from single to bi-wiring (using copper for low and silvered-copper for mid/hi) and the difference was amazing. All 2.5mm^2 and at some euro 4 or 5 per meter. I am absolutely positive I can blindly tell the difference between single wire and bi-wire. Not so sure about changing the two cables around though and moving from 2.5mm^2 to 4mm^2 at 6.5 euro/m was, I have to admit, a waste of money.
edit: The guy at the store at the time actually stated that cable selection on its own merits is impossible. It needed to take account of the Amp, the speakers and perhaps even the actual listening situation.Join MURCs Distributed Computing effort for Rosetta@Home and help fight Alzheimers, Cancer, Mad Cow disease and rising oil prices.

first thing I would do is move the speakers away from the wall - they are rear ported.
filling the ports with foam will completely change the dynamics of the speaker. the enclosure was designed with the port in mind, and will not sound accurate with any obstruction there.Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!

Guchi Guh, No probs I can supply pics, but someone has got to help me understand why i get JPG header corruption on uploads, when i am at home behind a non uPNP, NAT router. I also cannot access Exchange 2000 OWA either :S it keeps prompting me for my credentials for ever and loads the side panels but the inbox is empty. The Cisco course i'm doing doesent explain why, neither does the MS Knowledgebase!

Gt40, this may explain why as i have the speakers in the top corners, and close to the wall. I get alot of bass, but the speaker sounds out of time, when the plug is out. When the plugs are in i get less bass, but the speaker sounds more in time. Might have to do a bit of arranging and get the stands in room.______________________________

What size (kB) are the jpegs you are trying to upload?DM says: Crunch with Matrox Users@ClimatePrediction.net

NAD is good sensible stuff.
You don't need to move them any farther away from the walls, in that tiny room, they would be stuck right together! Just do what I suggested.. absorptive treatments on the front wall and something on the left side there.. the curtain works fine for the right side. This will effectively do the same thing, moving that source of reflection away. The easiest thing to do would be to mount a thin layer of foam rubber up there. 5mm sould do. Lower the speakers too.

The jpegs are 93k give or take.My brother gets the same problem on ebay with image uploads, with 2 different cameras. It is very bizarre, are the files uuencodeded etc? mightg be a question for Mr Sasq. Mr KvH So some kind of fabric kind of material on the left and some kind of wall dampening material on the wall directly behind the speakers. I might put some cloth behind or some foam packing material Would a fabric coated fibre pin board do the same thing for the left wall, i could then pin bits of paper etc to it

Peter,
Many thanks for your email enquiry regarding purchasing loudspeakers and their relative positioning in your chosen room.
This is a question we are often coming up against, B&W loudspeakers are designed to be placed in free space (except for the FPM range) for correct balance of the frequency spectrum, from the lowest bass through the mid-range to the highest treble without any exaggeration of frequencies.
Also this free space allows for correct imaging and depth of the soundstage. It is a fact that no one loudspeaker will sound the same in one room as it does in another.
Hi-fi retailers who have been in the business for many years become accustomed to setting up their systems in their given demonstration room. They may spend lengthy amounts of time in tuning a chosen speaker to sound at its optimum in that room. Hi-Fi retailers will have a great deal of knowledge in how to help consumers choose for their situations.
If you intend to place speakers against a wall I would suggest purchasing speakers which are designed to be placed against the wall, as they would be balanced for that placement.
I have attached some websites you may find interesting with regards to placing of loudspeakers:
Can't find what you're looking for? Perhaps this page will explain why, or help you find it. Add to cart, thrink tubing, silver cables, HDMI, subwoofer cables, REL cables, etc..
This link is from our own website:
Acoustic dampening material may not be necessary if you have a furnished room with curtains, carpet etc.
I recommend listening to a variety of amplifiers from your local retailer on your chosen speakers and with your own music, it is down to your judgement which combination you prefer.
I trust this helps
Yours sincerely
Stephen Wheatley

NTL Broadband , via Netgear MR314 wireless router. And Netgear MA101 usb wireless. Have to spoof the mac address, and reboot the router quite often.
Downloads are ok, might invest in a new one..______________________________
