I also briefly had a BEFSX41, but it was unstable so I ditched it and built myself a Smoothwall box

If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

I've used several Linksys jobs in my day. My BEFSX41 and 81 both worked well. I had a lock up problem with one of them, but then I moved it so it got more air and the lack ups stopped. I now have one of those Linksys router/VoIP combo jobs, and it's working rock solid.
If you've got a little extra cash you could always look at this:
Gb switch, 108 Mb/s wireless, all sorts of handy settings to prioritize packets. It's been getting stellar reviews, too.

Some firewalling/VPN options.
With the 1.5 firmware, starting Shareaza would lock it up as soon as the program came online (or tried to, at least).Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Those DLinks look nice (despite my longstanding dislike of DLink kit), but I can't find anyone who sells them in the UK.
Glad to hear nobody has major issues with the Linksys, perhaps recent models have cured the lockup issues various websites were reporting.Athlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.

It's good you don't have trouble with that BFSR. Unless their tech support has improved, you might as well just buy another and try again, rather than trying to get them to solve your problem.Last edited by Brian R.; 11 May 2005, 08:36.
