anyway, subsequently purchased an MSi neo2platinum motherboard with a amd 64bit venice 3200+. Installed the aquamini and it fired up first time. Have not had time to overclock but at stock speeds its running between 35C and 38C depending on load with a minimum fan speed. For reference the case is open at the moment and the thermometer on the chipset is returning 32C so the processor is pretty close to ambient i would say. will overclock this evening and post results.

That's pretty high. My Venice 3000 is OCed 30%, and with my xp90 (and low-rpm Panasonic fan) it's 35-37C.

Indeed! What kind of cooling do you have in you case? Seems like your setup works better the the aquamini, that's for sure.

that is impressive wombat, have had a quick play with o/cing it now and just hit 2.4 - temperature 39 degrees under load. very impressed with these venice chips.
