OK, so i bought a Pentium D 805 a while back to replace my Celeron D 351.
Wasnt compatible with the mobo i had, so just put it in drawer.
A company owed me a reimbursment, so i took a ASUS P5WD2 to install the Pentium D into.
Finally got round to ordering some G-Skill DDRII-800 444-12, after waiting over a month for some Crucial Ballistix DDR-800 to be told they didnt have any. Even though their website still says 4-7 days delivery...
Anyway, down to it:
System:
Intel Pentium D 805 (SL8ZH)
ASUS P5WD2
2x512Mb G-Skill DDRII-800 (DDRII-800@4-4-4-12)
Raptor 36Gb SATA (Boot)
Generic DVD-Rom IDE
GeForce 6600GT 128Mb
Enermax PSU EG701AX-VE (600W)
Problems:
1- When exiting the BIOS, or saving the BIOS, the PC shuts down, waits, then Boots.
Its annoying, as the CPU is not cooled for a few seconds during reboot. Anyone else had this? (I'm not using any of the onboard Fan headers, and the CPU fan is now on its own Externel 50W PSU.)
2- When in the BIOS, and choosing the "Hardware Monitoring" tab, it takes about 10-15seconds to react, as if the computer is frozen, but it isnt...anyone?
So far:
Just using Memtest as a beginner to see if it can reach the 4GHz mark and at what temps.
43°C at 3.7GHz @185FSB
45°C at 3.8GHz @ 190FSB
Having to kick the voltage up quite a bit on the CPU to get 4014GHz stable with no memory issues...the memory is (i hope) running at DDRII-800@555-15 so shouldnt be any probs there.
Have also upped the MCH Voltage and the FSB Termination voltage (sounded fun, had something to do with memory..) at 1.6V and 1.3V respectively.
CPU Voltage is set at 1.38 but detected as over 1.4V in the Hardware Monitoring..sweet.
back with more later...gonna be trying a windows install next, when sort of stable-ish.
