I'd prefer to wait until I get a better heatsink than the stock one. At the moment the weather round here hasn't found out that it's summer yet. If it does the temperature in the room can zoom up to 90's. At the moment running fritz which runs the cpu at full pelt brings the CPU temp up to 45C. I could see that adding twenty odd degrees to the case temp could take this well into the 50's. I might get away with this but how much do I trust the abit hardware monitor.

I simply added a 2nd fan and got half way through 3D Mark 2000, before I was bounced back to desktop when trying another undocumented feature of my glorious rev 1.02:

the FSB jumper setting that is labeled as 133, but in fact sets it to 111 ...

I saw a chance to have a step between 875 and 952, I admit it is a small step, but hey, there's always a chance

I added half a volt and reran at 1.85V and 943MHz - almost ... crashed after EMBM test

Then I had another thought about my cooling and came to the conclusion that repositioning of my fans was in order.
Both were screwed on top of the HS, pointing directly to the core, but I thought it might be helpful to generate some sort of stream to increase the airflow and hence the cooling effect. Thus I unscrewed 'em both, put the bigger (Pabst) one slighty beneath the center - directly under the center of each fan you only have some turbulations, but now real air movement and even less pressure onto the surface of my HS - and decided to screw the 2nd (noname P2 fan) below the HS to let it blow upwards towards the PS and its exhausting fan when plugged into the MoBo.

What a decent move ...

Ever since (about an hour ago) I'm totally safe at 112MHz FSB giving me whoppy 952MHz CPU core and L2 cache.

7759 in 3D Mark 99 Max

My P3 misteriously dropped 3c recently.
Now it's running about 46c fully loaded.

it now peaks at 49° C under real heavy load ...

Maybe your temp sensor slipped ?
Mine did two days ago while I was testing my CPU in a friend's rig and thus my temp drop by ~6° C and the cooling 'seemed' to be much faster upon idle ... better check that !

At the moment the room temp is 27C the case temp is 31C and the CPU is 28C (Due to a big Fan blowing air at it) under a light loading.
I've just fired up Fritz and see how high it goes. Summer's arrived here at last 28.7C outside at the moment so the room temp going climb at bit.
