I'm running win2k as well, but if you use a logitech mouse there's a setting for mouse refresh rate in the mouse driver properties.

Even if you don't use a logitech, there's a handy little utility called ps2 rate that works with any mouse and allows you to do the same thing anyways.

The monitor i'm currently using is less than a year old,it's a sony CPD G400,and one of it's strong points happends to be how well it displays text, even if i'm using high resolutions.

I'm not quite following you here xortam....

Mac's have always had smoother mouse pointer movement mostly because the sampling rate on them is much higher to begin with, regardless of what type of display is being used.

If you try that ps/2 rate utility and set to it's maximum value, you'll see what i mean.

On win 98 it's even worse,it's set at 40hz by default.

      Here's the link...

Just finding a way to sneak in some breaking news.
No CRTs, only LCD displays == flicker free display. My mouse movement is fine ... I use a Logitech USB mouse.

And even with the mouse set at 200hz refresh, you still get that screen shaking as well as the pixel flashing problems????...

Hey that looks pretty good... its a bit blurry though... must be my GF2's crappy 2D

(It is worse then the I815 Onboard Intel Chipset.. )

Oh well.. I am getting used to it again... I prepared myself by taping wax paper over the monitor

My friend has an Elsa Gladiac and it looks pretty good, at least playing UT.

I haven't analyzed the text quality or anything. I'll have to take a look at it next time I'm at his house.

I still can't believe he paid $380 when it came out. That's just silly!

Lets not forget that our monitors also play a big role in what we see. I know going from a CTX 17" POS(that is what I call it now) to my new Conerstone 21" c1025 was like night and day.

You could just do what I did. Drop $150 on a Kyro2. Not as good as the G400 (nothing is), but way better than any GeFart. GeForce2 GTS speeds. 64MB, AGP4x.

                        Hehe.

And don't forget the mince pies. If thy eyes are no good it doesn't matter what you have.

Imagine going to the opticians. Sorry Son your eyes are no good. So your G400 is being wasted. Here let me take it and have a nvidia card instead you won't notice the blurry text.

hmmmm. Asus V8200 Deluxe's lowest selling price is $450US. Looks like the Radeon 64mb VIVO for me. But I want something faster dammit.

R200 isn't gonna come out for a while, I guess. G550 prolly isn't gonna be any faster than the Radeon. argh.
