I have i WinModem and i can`t query it while i`m connected ... thats normal. Disconnect, query it and check the info on the chipset it uses ... if it is for for example Rockwell HSF, its a WinModem, and if its HCF, its a 'Hard' modem

Hmm I think it's a hardware modem as well. Winmodems have their DSP code stored in a file, hardware modems have them onboard (DSP Code Location: Internal ROM).
Nope, my modem is classified as a 56K PCI Modem (tr11709)
It won't work in DOS, but it's signed to work in Linux, says so on the box.
Then again, on the box it also says 5 year warranty, and minimum P75. Then on the site it says 2 year warranty and P133, and if you look further it's even a P266
If it will need a minimum of P266, then I agree it should be a winmodem. Unflashable, and do NOT use the WinME drivers, if anyone out there is using the same modem !!
No... the thing is upside down in my PC, and I had much trouble getting it in, so I don't want to go through all the trouble of taking out 2 other cards again to get the modem out, write down the numbers and put all cards back in. It's too damn hot and humid here to do more than just sit and try to stay cool
Maybe later, when the t-storms have hit and I have unplugged everything anyway (don't want to buy a new modem every 2 weeks), but not now. Sorry
And the only way to see if they are HW or SW is if they offers DOS suport.
The exactly same amount of chips, resistors, capacitators etc etc.
Even the exact same numbers and letters on the chips!!!!
The only use for a winmodem is to toss them from a high building when Bill Gates are passing by on the street!!
