Ya i also had a TNT2 b4 my G400 Brain. It had good speed and and image quality....well not if u count out all the driver problems and the OGL tearing issues. The TNT2 was a huge headache for me...as far as the image quality...u have obviously never seen a G400 first hand...so i guess u will never know how much better it is over a TNT2.

Man, is it really made out plastic? I was just wondering. You make it seem so, "Brain". The TNT2 will be outdone as well, and you can get a G400 right now if you look. So what is your point, anyhow?
Just to come and tell everyone who is anxiously waiting for their G400's (whether it is because of availability, or funds), that they are dumb shits? My opinion is as follows: I would go for the G400 for many reasons, such as Dual Head, EMBM, Visual Quality, Performance, Driver support many years down the road, Visual Quality, Excellent TV-OUT, Great DVD playback without a Decoder Card, compatibility with the RRG, Oh...did I mention Visual Quality. I Also think the G400 will last through upgrades a bit better than the TNT2, V3, Rage, Permedia3, etc.
By your reasoning, there is no reason for you to have purchased a TNT2, since there will be much brighter roads ahead.

Half-Life players should probably go for the TNT2 Ultra? HL plays fine on my Marvel G200, so I'm sure I won't be disapointed with the G400 when I get one . Also I want dual-head so a TNT is no good to me anyway.

The way things are going all current cards will be 'out of date' in 6 months.

About Halflife. Why has G400 problem with games with many textures, is it a driver issue or a limitation in HW? If it is a limitation in HW, i suppose G400 will suffer in future when more games with many textures is released.

The texture corruption you see is fixed in upcoming driver releases.

I went down to the store and picked up a G400 dual head and paid for it, what's so hard about that?.They are at alot of stores where I live and i'll tell you, I used to be a tnt owner until 2 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with this card.I play almost all D3D games and they look awesome and my framerates went up alot.I spent all my time searching for the perfect driver for my tnt on riva zone and all I needed was the perfect card! Funny thing about this guy is he never bothered to call up Matrox Customer Service like I did, If he has his order after June11 then he will be getting his 1 week later. And the whole september date is 100% rumor
What the hell are we doing in the middle of the desert?

Some of you are just idiotic. You act as if I insulted your mother. All you brilliant people who just walked up and bought one congrats. I'm sure you have a nice piece of hardware, but I'd guess over 80% of the US popolous and 95% of the world can't do that because they just aren't available. Of course I called before cancelling my order. I never said it would be septempber, but when the date gets moved each week by another week and half, its very annoying and irresponsible. The person at PCSTOP was clearly annoyed with Matrox and was sorry I had to cancel my order.

Meanwhile Today I am playing games with my TNT2 Ultra overclocked to 175/200 on my p581. The text quality is stellar as are the colors. Most reviews I've read say Matrox only truly takes over on image quality at perhaps above 1280. So all you claiming TNT2 image quality is crappy compared to Matrox, I just don't buy it. Besides only the MAX has a 360 ramdac the reg g400 has a 300 rd just like TNT2 (and yes I know that is not the only factor in 2d quality).

Do I have a pang for seeing EMBM. Hell yes. But I finally can just play and don't have to wait another week or two or 6. When MAtrox has saturated the market I may even consider selling my TNT2 and picking one up. Maybe I'll wait to hear some solid next gen rumors. Until then, congrats to those who have the card they want, congrats to those who have the patience to wait and to some of you, grow up....

This is definitly flame bait. This is the Matrrox Hardware forum. If you bought a tnt2, cool. I myslef jumped from a reg tnt to the g400. While I am still hoping for a bit faster Half-Life speed, all other games/apps I run are just stellar. AND the dual monitor function just cant be beat. I've now got a 21" and a 19" plugged into the card and I cant beleive I lived without this feature for so long on my home machine (use it at work on Mac's *shudder*

Anyway, congrats on your purchase, now kindly quit trying to piss people off. I've already read how everybody just loves the utnt2, but this is not the place for it. This is the same reason I quit reading the mailing list.

Everybody else: Have you seen pod racer on a g400? MY GOD is it nice. Especially on the 21"
A computer is like sex. Your never 100% sure what your doing but when all goes well, it feels REAL good.

                        Actually CoolBreeze,
I think the OEM's have a slower RAMDAC. I'm just nitpicking, though.

                          Mr Plastic,
I haven't seen one idiotic reply here. You come here, A MATROX HARDWARE FORUM, and tell everyone that you decided to go with a TNT2 (well YAY for you!), and ask their opinions. You got their opinions and mine. Then you tell us to grow up? Get real!! If you don't want someone's opinion then don't ask. I told you that there are many reasons for waiting for a G400, and I don't think it is appropriate coming here and trying to flame everyone up. As far as visual quality goes, the plain G400 with its 300Mhz RAMDAC still has better visual quality than any other non G400 on the market. I never said the TNT2 visual quality is crappy, and I have never even seen anyone post it. The only thing I have ever seen posted is that the G400 has better quality (Which it does).

You need to grow up. If you don't like Curve-Balls, then don't step up to the plate. If you want to discuss our differing opinions, then be a man and let's discuss them.
