g400(max) users , attention , THIS IS CRAZY !

Hmmm nice combo G400+F500 :P

I did a few benchmarks and I get a 3% hit avg when running 1280x32x85Hz VSYNC OFF compared to 1280x32x75Hz VSYNC OFF. I guess that's the disadvantage of single ported RAM kicking in.

And DirectX 6.2 is on the G400 CD.

I agree with most here. Synchronize things and you will optimize your performance.

Hey Tombman, welcome back...

Are you using a BNC cable for that great monitor of yours???? If not get one, so you get every bit of goodness out of it. Put the D-sub cable on the V2 cards and switch back and forth between the G400 and the V2 cards with your monitor controls.

Well tombman I redid my Q3 test using the custom settings that you gave. And at 1280x1024x32bit, the rest the same as above, with my monitor at 65Hz, that's it's max at that res, I got 17.3fps which is a far cry from your 7.9 So I say again something must be wrong. And as for my 3DMark99Max score that was at a 85Hz monitor setting, again the max my monitor can handle at that res.

I said that i made a mistake and that i get exactly the same scores with my g400max you get ....
(forget those 7.9 numbers , they are wrong)

At q3 1280*1024*32 all at the max i get 22.1 fps with my tnt2ultra at 170/210 !
(i use my tnt2ultra for quaking , g400max is WAY to slow (opengl drivers are shit))

BTW : At 1024*768*16 , 16 bit textures , bilinear , vsync off and all other settings at the max i get 52 fps !!! (try that with a g400max --> MUAHAHAHH)

No kidding,remember what happened last time? Try being a human about it, rather than acting like a 5yr. old kid. Sitting there going hahaha, TNT does this, try that with a G400 will get you nowhere. Anyways, I think the timeclock in Q3 test is still FUBAR'ed, I will be in a match and the screen will say 1 fps when there is absolutely no way that is one frame per second. If you want help, then accept the help, but don't be an ****ole.

dont have much time..just to say DX6.2 came with WIN98SE after upgradeing from WIN98..& I realy dont think that is an advantage over DX6.1 & that useing it will incrase your performance much..as I knowe they are not for download ..why ? ...duno,they came only with WIN98SE...I cant make TEST @1280x1024 with 100Hz because I have 15inch monitor.. I can get only 800x600 refreshed by 100hz if that helps I make some for U...

Joel and ragsdale : i don´t know what is wrong with you because whenever i "insult" a VIDEO CARD you feel personally attacked !!!!

I mean i own a g400max myself and i know that it sucks in opengl BUT I am not that psychically bound to this product so that i have to feel offended whenever someone touches it !! Everyone on the internet KNOWS that it sucks in opengl and i really don´t understand why you freak out whenever someone

Ok, other topic now , i don´t think that the framecounter in q3 is still broken because we all are quakers for a long time now and we have a very good feel if a card produces 10 fps 20 fps or 30 fps . I mean if it takes half the time for the benchmark to complete with the tnt2ultra then with the g400max then I KNOW that the g400max is slower than the tnt2ultra in opengl ...period.

Slartibart has given me the idea that the monitor can be the problem so i changed it to a generic type at 60 hz refresh and all was fine ...BUT IT IS CLEAR THAT THE G400(MAX) HAS A PROBLEM WITH MONITORS !!
(i will call matrox on monday and see what they have to say about it ..)

I have never felt personally attacked over an insult over a video card, it is just that in one post you are completely baffled by your performance, then in another post you are saying that there is no way it will ever perform, GET A LIFE!!!

If everyone on the internet seems to know that it "sucks" in OpenGL, then why do you always have to post it over and over and over and over. Anyhow I don't think that playing above 1024 32bit with all details on, and having it playable means it sucks, but I guess I don't sit there and contemplate benchmarks all day. You must, again GET A LIFE!!!

Okay, first of all the benchmark does not take any longer to complete using the TNT2 over the G400 or vice versa.
Secondly I am saying that I am pretty confident that the benchmark is not very accurate. I will post some screen shots of a TNT2 pulling 400 Fps if you like. There is no way in Hell, that this can happen. And I can play on my system, when it says I am doing 1fps when there is no way in hell that is occurring. There is something wrong with.....PERIOD!!!!!!

It is clear that you have not been reading the posts around here, because you would have seen that there appears to be a problem with the drivers (G200 or G400/Max), NOT THE CARD!! I guess there is going to be a fix on the way.

As far as your attitude, I really think that if you want to discuss things in a logical manner, you won't come in here shouting (yes, all caps is shouting), and posting the same shit as you have been. We all know you think the G400 Max is slow, we all know you think that the TNT2 is the end all be all of video cards. That doesn't affect me one way or the other. What does affect me is you come here posing like you have a problem, and want to get help fixing it, then people go and try to help, and then you turn into a total dick about the situation, and go on with diarhea of the mouth. Tone it down and you will get help. I know that if I had your card and system, I am 99% sure (the 1% being you got a faulty card) that I could bump up every single benchmark you have posted, and the TNT2 Ultra would be left behind in the dust. Oh yeah and next time you compare benchmarks of 2 different video cards, make sure that if one is overclocked, the next card is oc'ed too, and not use hacks. That is the ONLY way to get fair benchmarks.
