with ur K6-3 u have a very limited cpu with a FPU worse then a casio calculator. so the cache is not helping in your case.

Ah well, when using 3DNow even a 300MHz K6-2 can beat the hell out of a 450MHz celery for FP operations. So, your point being?...

My comment on those TurboGL things: great! As long as they get 3DNow v1 (K6-x) compatible and run on my G200. I've been waiting &@^$^& MORE THAN A YEAR for something looking like descent usuable OpenGL drivers for the G200 and &(@$&(@$ STILL it's not even up to the performance of the G200. I estimate the G200 (not OC'ed) can do 40-50 fps in Q2 demo1. I've seen 30fps from it, but seeing D3D apps this could be way more.

Will the TurboGl actually run on a PII/Celeron, or will it not work at all? MiniGls are optimized for specific games anyway so will we see a speed boost regardless of whether SIMD is used?

CLUEBIE: when you bought your "p3 same price as p2" even the p2's were overpriced to anyone that bothered to notice! Only a fool goes for top end. Finally a good use for p3-sse is showing up, 3d card drivers. I can go *right now* and grab a stock p3-500 for nearly $200, or a P3-450 for just a bit above $150. Combine anothe r$50 with a P125 and have fsb fun. Then take the rest and pocket it. Whoop de do, until now you could run photoshop filters 1.5x faster for 4x the price.

SUCKERS BORN EVERY MINUTE. Thats the ultra-high-end-yet-can't-really-afford-much buyers fall into. I'll bet some of you end up buying rambus the second it hits the market as well.

BTW, goto arstechnica, look for 'god box vs nerd box' review.

Dual p3s vs dual celerons, celerons at LOWER speed. (IIRC, p3-560 c-504) Results will shut some folks up reeaal quick.

L2 at clock speed creams over half clock, not to mention the timings are better. I'm holding for s370 p3/cel. 0.18 if I get lucky. Take 100fsb version, toy at 133fsb on camino or 810e.

                      Uh, sorry there buddy,
P-Ditty, PurpleHaze is an Asian girl named Ami (mmmm...)

Looks like I'm not the only one here with spatialized ignoranzy

Now, I have a link here that backs Zyphers statement up. And what a back-up!

                      http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...r006/page5.asp

Here, thresh's firingsquad has made a dual celeron system out of socket 320 celerons with socket->slot1 converters, and then benched it quite much.

Their results are very interesting, although I would like to see those systems get tested with Lightwave 3D and other multithreaded programs. Q2 and photoshop don't appeal much to my work environment.

To me, truth is not some vague, foggy notion. Truth is real. And, at the same time, unreal. Fiction and fact and everything in between, plus some things I can't remember, all rolled into one big "thing." This is truth, to me.

I have an RC power switch implanted next to my heart. If I get surprised my system will shutdown immediately.

                        I'm prepared.
