  • Anyone had troubles w/ 3DMark2000??

I've downloaded it twice. Both times it installed fine, but when I try to run it I get a Visual C++ runtime error. Can anyone help??

Well, Electric Paul, I've had no problems, but you do know that
    Minimum Requirements to use 3DMark:
Intel® Pentium® processor with MMX Technology or compatible. Minimum 166 MHz
    64 MB of memory
Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or Windows 2000 Professional
    Microsoft DirectX 7
    A DirectX 7 compatible 3D accelerator & drivers

    Additional Recommendations for Testing:

    128 MB of system memory
Free hard disk space for Image Quality pictures Windows 98 or newer.
    and
If the problem persists, feel free to contact us at support@MadOnion.com. Please include at least the following information to the problem description if possible:

3DMark project file (.3dp) as a file attachment. Create a project file doing the following: 1. Start 3DMark 2. Choose New Custom Benchmark 3. Save a text format project file (Save As… in the File menu).
Where in 3DMark the problem occurs
Detailed description of how the problem or bug can be reproduced
    and
Q: The landscape texture in Game 1 - Helicopter flashes with different colors
A: Matrox G400 5.30 driver has probably a bug when rendering the landscape.
    Pfew...

Do (or don't) you have any of the above??

    Jorden.

I had flashing/screwy textures with the 5.30 drivers. With the 5.41 drivers, everything runs good, but only for a minute or two.
What I need is some 5.35 drivers

I don't have any of those problems, because the stupid thing won't even start. I click on the shortcut and I get a dialog box that says:

        Visual C++ Runtime Error.

My system meets all the requirements.

        I don't know what's going on.

Q: My 3DMark says "Archive DEMO.RAS not found"

A: There is a known bug in 3DMark where loading/saving a 3DP file to some other directory than where DEMO.RAS resides (the default installation path is: C:\Program Files\MadOnion.com\3DMark2000) causes the error message "Archive DEMO.RAS not found". If you are using the command-line option /demo to use a custom setting for the demo, you must copy the 3DP file to your 3DMark installation directory.

                  Thanx Jorden,

Restarted the program and ran the demo, withiut doing a benchmark first, so no save, and it worked fine.
Wow the 'Stonehenge' and platform ('Star Wars' like) are increadable!!!
Lot of stuff seams geared for the GeForce cards. Oh well . Still looked great as it's prerendered.

I e-mailed the problem to Madonion and they replied that they are working on it. They asked be for recent software installs.

Still no idea what's going on....

It could be a problem with one of the DLL files ... which one I'm trying to find out with Andrei's help (just comparing directories for a change )

                            DLL files:

                            e2mfc.dll 352KB
                            grphmfc.dll 148KB
                            inetmfc.dll 80KB
                            Mfc42.dll 973KB
                            Msvcirt.dll 77KB
                            Msvcp60.dll 393KB
                            rlmfc.dll 240KB
                            sndmfc.dll 132KB
                            SystemInfomfc.dll 120KB

Jorden says they're normal. So it seems it's not the dll files.

Of all the users in the World, why did this had to happen to us Paul ?

Yeah andrei. This sucks. I just watched one of my friends run it. it's a pretty nice benchmark. Are the scenes with the chick in them only in the full version??
