Can you imagine going to the nVidia forums and posting, "nyah, nyah. We've had T&L all along. We just didn't know it! Hey, Matrox forgot to tell us. It happens." Personally, I think if any of this is true, we should keep it quiet.

This hardware T&L thing leaves me cold. I'm still whining for the "Render Subjects Nude" feature I suggested a while back, as I'm convinced it will improve my Quake3 play.

Sure, dismiss this now, but when Matrox implements the "hardware T&A" function, all other videocard companies will cease to exist. Everyone will want one!

I have to agree, the "Render Subjects Nude"
would greatly enhance gameplay, especially in tombraider. Might not improve my scores but I would sure enjoy it more.

as to T&L "IF" the g400 has a sufficently flexible core/micro code, T&L will surely be possble, But with processors approachiong 1G, it would be pointless to trade off fill rate for T&L processing.(unless your running less than 500mhz celeron/k6).

      Hey I am running a celeron 450, I'll have a T&L "to go" please.

Wow, you go away for a few days.... Matrox snuck into the lab and replaced my trusty G400 with this new G450...., really, if you don't believe me just ask, I'll tell.... honest.

As stated at matroxusers.com on 17 November, on matrox.com was an article called "The Six Misconceptions Of EMBM + T&L" which unfortunately is no more there. Maybe there was something related to this topic.

"Matrox have a new feature story on their website titled The six misconceptions of EMBM + T&L which goes some way to dispel a few myths surrounding environment mapped bump mapping and transform and lighting."

Borg I think it might not be right to say that T&L cannot happen by BIOS or drivers supports. If you were an old G200 user too, you should remember that G200 did not have antialias (? I don't remember how to spell it) for a while until Matrox released a driver with the support of it. If I can recall correctly, their explanation was that the antialias function trades off lot of performance of G200 so they turned off the function by default.

Well, it is just to defend the possibility of the existence of T&L in G400, not mean to offense someone or say "hey dude, T&L does exist in G400...blah blah blah".
                        I want the T&L in my G400!

I suppose that a little change in a driver for the g400 ,can make it support hardware T&L.The problem is the performance hit.
I'm sure that the CPU T&L via software is faster that the tweaked G400 hardware T&L.

If Matrox kept it quiet for so long it can't be worth the trouble (nor fuzz).

                              ENOUGH!!!

For me it was the funniest day at MURC. Cool down. About 95% of you are right. And Alessandro definitely belongs to these 95%.
Many thing are possible with G-chips. Not all of these things make sense (speedwise).

Please read my last explanation at my website and stop make me laughing. Otherwise I gonna die sooner than I expected - it's not healthy to roll on the floor for too long.

It was a pleasure for me to bring you some fun.

                                Just joking Greg

Well folks I don't know the sort of in depth things about the drivers that Greg mentions so can't comment on that. But what I do know is from a very reliable source close to Matrox is that the G450 will have T&L support, and I don't post rumours unless I'm pretty damn sure Expect it early in the new year. Matrox of course won't comment on any of this.
