    Hi Adam,

I don't know about the features, but it has plenty of goodies ... like 'making of' etc.

I think the used capacity is around 8.5GB or something.

The quality is outstanding - better than any S-VHS I recorded !!!

    Cheers,
    Maggi

The reason why the CPU load is at 100% all the time when running Rain, CPUIdle or whatever powersaving/cooling software, is that the idle task in windows is replaced with an idle task provided by the cooling program (which draws the halt command in CPU -> saving power).

From the load monitor program's point of view, it can't see any "free time" thus stating a 100% load.

It works actually very well. And by the way Windows NT has this feature built into it's idle task, so it's not a useless feature off the CPU.

Hope this would clarify more than cloudify that particular subject.

And congrats to you Maggi, I also have the Pioneer DVD, it's a great drive!

The region-2 version of "The Matrix" is AFAIK the same as region-1, only that it has an additional german soundtrack (in Germany, that is; France, Netherlands, Italy, ... should be equal).

Same seems to be true for Ghostbusters (which in fact is the complete Collector's Series with all the goodies without even mentioning it on the cover), Austin Powers (complete New Line Platinum Series), Species 2 and some other movies. Apparently someone realized that it isn't neccessary to do a complete new master for Europe when you can just use the US-version.

You can (and IMO should) close "Ahqtb" with no problems. It's a program that loads when you install your SB Live!. Audio HeadQuarters or something it's called. Not needed anyway. Plus, disabling it on my machine increases my HDD transfer rate by around 500Kbytes per second! Why? I don't know.

Thanx alot for the reply, I finally got the answer I needed to get =)

I have a 32" Widescreen TV which supports both PAL and NTSC, but that one is not in the same room as my computer.

Regarding NTSC->PAL framerate conversion, I just got a reply from Daniel Lawrence @ Matrox that they have no plans for supporting this. I think this is really BAD.

I don't think it should be very hard.
DxR2 cards got framerate conversion via software (visualdomain.net) DxR3/H+ had the same problem and offered PAL60 as a temporary solution, a combination of PAL color coding and 60Hz refresh, later they added real framerate conversion via drivers. So IMO this should be very possible to fix.

And just a little reminder, this is not about playing Region1 discs in region2 countries - (almost) all region free discs are made in NTSC.

                Thanx Ghydda !

                It really rocks ...

                ...

Btw, why does nobody use Wintop to have an exact readout of processes and tasks runing under windows ???

It's part of the 'W95PowerToys' and gives you quite some info about CPU usage.

I think it's a remake of that UNIX tool called 'top' ...

My OCed Celery goes up to 75% as a maximum when playing DVD via DVDMax on my TV, usually it is around 60-70%.

Hi I still have the problem :[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[:[

People said that it would probably have something to do with programs running in the background of winblows, but I have not been able to cure the problem... :[

All I have on the task bar is as follows:-

                  Systray
Pdesk [As far as I know "not this"]
                  MbM4 [Motherboard Monitor"Its not this"]
                  Rain [Its not this either]
                  CPU Number [Definately not this]

So what do I do now :[

Come on surely not a problem every G400 MAX owner has to put up with.

The funny thing is that when I select NTSC instead of PAL then the problem dissapears,But this is no fix to the problem because I live in the United Kingdom and I am supposed to be using ""P A L""

                  Please advise :]

About playing NTSC DVD's on PAL TV's, in my opinion the best solution is PAL60, not framerate conversion (which is very hard to do correctly). For more info about this see another thread in the powerdesk forum: http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000256.html

download the dvd region changer from dvd utils. run it and then make sure that in the cinemaster options section you have 'soft de-interlace' selected. this should help witht he stuttering. I first noticed this stuttering on slow panning shots, spaceships flying by slowly, the paramount logo. It's barely noticeable when the action is fast even if you are looking for it. soft deinterlace does get rid of it for the most part but if you are really picky then you will even be able to spot it but it will not interfere with the normal viewing.

obviously you have enabled the dma for your dvd and made sure you have the latest ide drivers for your board? for some reason the abit disc that comes with the motherboard doesn't include the latest chipset drivers or if you want to update your bios you have to go to another motherboard manufacturer to get the right version of awdflash for your board (manual shows version 7,33 but the disc and abit's website only includes 7.05 which doesn't work on be6. version 7.21 does which we got from supermicro's site i think)
If you don't have the latest ide drivers then when you enable dma and then restart the dma disappears but it doesn't tell ya.

                      good luck

if you need the latest awdflash then give me a shout and i'll send it too ya

Unfortunatly software De-Interlace, doesn't fix the problem - we need Framerate conversion or at least PAL60. Can't someone who has the "power" let matrox know?

ah well sorry i couldn't help. the soft deinterlace worked for me. My tv doesn't like anything but pal 50.

                          these are my settings:

                          surface flip: soft deinterlace
surface flip position: top of display
                          deinterlacing: force weave
                          decode setting: full quality cpu
                          triple buffering enabled
                          require colour key enabled

no 3:2 pulldown, no hardware acceleration.

when i watch on the tv the jittering is highly reduced. almost as good as my hollywood+ but not quite.

                            Guys,

we do not support PAL-NTSC and vice versa.

Playing with the pull down values might help some people but that's about it.

is that an IDE DVD or SCSI ???

If it's IDE, make sure to have 'DMA' enabled !!!

I once forgot to enable it on my CD-ROM after a fresh installation of W98 and each CD-ROM access gave me heavy slowdowns and stuttering ...

                                Hi Maggi

My dvd drive is a pioneer 10X by 40X and it is an IDE with DMA enabled I just cannot get it to play dvd's on my 25"Dolby Pro-Logic Sony TV without a stutter now and again :[

Nobody seems to have the answers not even the allmight "HAIG" :P

I have got my system running as sweet as a nut apart from this and it really annoys me:[

Have you any suggestions please !!! Thanks
                                Matt {:O)
