    Hi Kristian,

I never said that the webmaster won't do anything about it. I only explained to you why you got that response.

I will try to make this as simple as possible and it will be my last post about the PAL 60 issue.

You send an email to webmaster@matrox.com asking if it is possible to include PAL60 support in our upcoming drivers so that our Europpean clients can watch region1 DVD's on their pal tv's. DO NOT bombard them with technical problems.

"I have tried the techsupport noe - who should I (we) turn to now?"

I can understand how you feel but what would you like technical support to do about it? We handle problem/solutions ONLY. Anything more is out of our hands.

    Regards,

    Haig

For all you still having stuttering with NTSC>Pal please look at one of my previuos posts in this thread - I have a work around. However the solution is not just to run DVD Genie - you will need to do the registry thing also in the order specified.

It now appears that my earlier guess on this issue as being Region Enfocement might be on the mark. If adding this feature would cost Matrox a law suit then I would understand why they are reluctant to add it.

        Haig,

You say you have posted you last post in this thread - but maybe you are still reading.....

"I can understand how you feel but what would you like technical support to do about it? We handle problem/solutions ONLY. Anything more is out of our hands. "

        It's a problem - we need a solution!
Tell us you have forwarded the problem to the driver crew - and tell us what they said about it.

          Haig,

English is not my first language and I may have problems expressing myself correctly.

My point is that I think PAL60 should be supported, and is a missing feature - that "every" other hardware player has.

Regarding forwarding the request. My first mail regarding the problem was on the 25th of November 1999 - My first request for Pal60
was 07th desember 1999. First message I never got a reply. Second message I got this

          "Dear Sir,
Are DVD player was not designed to allow you to run NTSC DVDs in PAL
countries. With our player you can only play DVDs from your Region."

I confronted that with the point that all region free DVD's are mastered in NTSC. The reply I got:

          "Dear Sir,
At this time we have no plans of offering this feature."

Third request 20th January 2K... reply:

          "Dear Sir,
Our DVD Player has a DVD region setting and will only play DVDs from that
region. You are given the option of changing the Region however you only
have 3 chances after that it locks on the last Region selected."

I requested PAL60 and that is the answer I get!!

As you can see, Daniel basically blows me off.

As you can see I'm not basing my assumptions on Kristian's post - it just got me started again

            I just sent this e-mail to webmaster@matrox.com
            ---
            Hi,

Is possible to include PAL60 support in your upcoming G400 drivers
so that your Europpean clients can watch NTSC DVD's on their pal tv's.

If possible I would like a reply if it will be fixed and in what timeframe.

            ---

I will post the reply I get here.

I feel pretty stupid posting 4 messages in a row, but....

              mattyb NZ,

It's not a region issue - it's a NTSC/PAL issue - basically the problem has nothing to do with regions.

All other players support this so I don't see how it should be a legal problem.

Insominis - I was just referring to "a form of region enforcement" whether or not it was thought about when Regions were mapped out who knows? The thing is I dont understand why I am able to configure my system to clearly have the problem or not, but I can - with the very same driver version. Therefore it can not be very hard to fix so why not make the customers happy? Because the same people who dont want us to have access to DVD ripping software have something to do with it? Whatever the reason it still would be nice to know

                  mattyb NZ,

The NTSC/PAL issue is not "a form of region enforcement"

All high quality TV's sold here in Norway in Year 2000 will support both NTSC and PAL!

About you beeing able to configure you system to "not" have the problem - Yes there are settings in DVDGenie that will make the problem much less noticable. But there are reasons that is not a good solution.

First, this fix will only work with Cinemaster, all other DVD software will still have the problem.

Second, Cinemaster does not work with Win2K

Third, It doesn't fik the problem completely - PAL60 would.

                    Insomnis

Hehe , I sent he EXACT same message to webmaster@matrox.com abot the PAL60 and this is the response I got.

                    Hello

Thank you for your e-mail. Your concerns will be forwarded to the
appropriate channels. At the present time, when outputting DVD titles, we
                    currently support NTSC-out to an NTSC-TV and PAL-out to a PAL-TV.

                    Regards
                    Marc C

Duh, some answer!?! He didn't even understand the question. But since I wasn't specific about the problem I can see why he didn't.
Conclusion: Messages sent to webmaster is only going to be forwarded to tech support. I REALLY wold like to have the adress to the developers department.

                    Sincerely

                    Kristian
