    Agreed Jorden.

    Hehe.

Didn't mean to post in the wrong spot- I was more or less staying on the original post's topic, although I had the same thought at the time about its location. I was actually checking here to see if it had been relocated yet when I read your post.

Easy Jorden..... Ace is still an [MU]er and I still hope to see him post on the forums. After all he still has his G400's just in different systems. At least he's honest, mature and not flaming any of us.

See ya on the Gaming Forum and the UT server Ace.

Mmmmm.... thank you very kindly, Jord, but I'd just as soon see this conversation head off to GHW if it moved...

Thanks for the kind words Paul.

And I always look forward to seeing you folks in here and over on the UT server, too. This has got to be the best bunch of people I've met anywhere on the net, and we DO share common interests (Matrox stuff being only a part- UT holds some challenge for many of us now too).

Guess I'll leave it at that, in the interests of not starting some sort of flame-war or anything.

            You're forgiven, Ace

Just shoot me next time you see me on the UT-server... Even if I'm on the same team

Speaking about UT: which version do you use? UT runs like sh*te on my machine, especially the 4.20 version. Is 4.05b the best, with the beta d3ddrv.dll released just after the 4.05b version was released? And if I use that version, will I be able to play on the [MU] server?

Otherwise I wil just stick to Q3A, which runs quite well on my PC, and I also am much better at Q3A than at UT...

maybe I should run q3a (MU) server permanently on my linux-machine, so we can have a [MU] Q3A clan too?

I used the 420 version with both cards, dZeus. But, I did use the 406 (beta) D3D dll. I also went to the CDCopyWorld site, and got the NoCD crack, as it seems to speed up load times considerably.

                      Hey Jorden,

Don't get into such a bind. They will be back and eating crow after they see what the G800 has to offer.

One thing I'd like to add =)

I'm not sure what setup APV and The Rock are using, but my CLA2 isn't coming close to my g400max at 1280x1024x16 or 32 in 2d. (At 1024x768 I have to stare long and hard to notice a difference in "crispness") Both cards are using the same monitor courtesy of my KVM. As for the 3d, it's another story...

Hey Maggi, next time before you speak, take the time to do some research. The ASUS GeForce Deluxe DDR does exactly what i was asking for and it also does 720 x whateve divx videos (not multiple of 32) which the G400 can't display rite now on the TV Out using dvdmax

I just had the "pleasure" of testing out two Gespot 2's in my home. One was a Gladiac the other was a Prophet II. Both were identical in performance, and visual quality. They are pretty quick in 3D, but I really don't see a big diff. in the games I play at the resolution I play (HL/TFC, Q3A, UT all at 1024, 32bit). I have my framerates capped when online anyhow, and the G400 keeps up with the cap just fine, maybe just a bit choppy in spots (the GeSpot is just a bit less choppy in those same places). 2D image quality is NOT, I REPEAT NOT equal or greater than the G400. It is better than the original GeSpot, and much nicer than the TNT/TNT2's. My G400 still looks better when using my high resolution text editers, and my eyes are less fatigued at the end of my long sessions. There is no doubt. 3D image quality looks very similar to one another, and I enjoy playing the games so much I hardly can tell the diff between the G2, and the G400, except in HL/TFC where the colors of blues and red are much more visible with the G400. I see no reason for me to upgrade to a video card that offers me no more. No dual head, no DVD Max, no embm, high resolution hurts my eyes, 3D performance has little pull for what I play right now, and the damned things cost three and a half Benji's. Of course this is just my opinion and I may be wrong.

                              Isochar:

I should have been more specific. The 2d looks as good as the G400 in 1024x768, which is my 17" monitors' sweet spot. At 1280x1024, things look crappy. However, with the G400, I couldn't even change to that resolution for some reason. My monitor is a finicky beast.

I'm with Rags. 3D image quality is on par with the G400, but I find the Matrox board's 2D output to be superior.
