Well... one guy asked - would you recomend getting a Ferrari?
Now, question: would you drive it to work? ...
Another question: would you ask for a raise and tell that you need it to get a Ferrari?
So, why would I get GeForce 2 (3) in my office computer?
On the other hand, most office people are satisfied by i810 or i815 ...
So we are talking about somebody who needs higher than ordinary functions. Like dualhead, high resolutions and quality (staring at monitor all the day doesn't do you any good). Dont forget other functions, that we still don't know about ;-)
But office computers are not built by in-company personel most of the time... and here we are in computermaker relations... (say Dell still doesn't make Athlon computers)
The point? The point is that if office computers came even with Millenium, it still would be better that i810. We are in the area where progress is not needed (many office supplies are like that ;-).
Question? Suggest some other functions (other thnt ones in G4x0) that are needed in the office. Notice, that I am not talking about 3D at all... I work with 2D graphics, edit tons of java, asp and c code and browse all that stuff after that. So I need something 3D for office too. Can't think of many things though (since VRML is almost dead ;-)

Out of curiousity after Himself's post, I've adjusted my settings to 1920x1440 on my Millenium G400 DH and CTX VL950T. My conclusions are:
; semicoloon good
: colon good
" quote good
' single quote good
, comma good
. period good
~ tilde average
| pipe good
\ backslash good
/ slash good
# number good
@ at good
% percent average to good
Would have tried 2048x1536 but that would have been too small for my monitor (need a 21" at least for that one, I'd say. :-)
btw, playing with my drivers I discovered these monitors can do 1280x960 at 97Hz! Not bad for a bargain-basement 19" monitor about 12 months old. :-)
Anyway, time to go back to a res that allows me 85Hz at least. :-P

I'm writing this on an Eye-Q 750 21" monitor @ 2048x1536x32bpp @ 66Hz (G400 DH Vanilla) and here's the rating
; semicoloon very good
: colon very good
" quote good
' single quote very good
, comma very good
. period very good
~ tilde good
| pipe very good
\ backslash very good
/ slash very good
# number very good
@ at very good
% percent average to good
Of course this heavily depends on which font you are actually using, but as long as you stick with standard fonts and your monitor is good enough, there is a big difference between Matrox and the competition.
Cheers,
Maggi
PS: gotta switchback now to 2048x1024x32bpp @ 100/75Hz DH mode ...Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

I don't know guys, I hope 1.8GPixels/sec is correct. That would be a nice little boost over my G400 :P
And dual chip would compete well with NV20.
If these rumors are true, Matrox has their ass covered. (OpenGL?)

Thoses rumors have to be to good to be true!
Come on! 1.8 Gpixel on one chip........from Matrox!Dual chip 3.6Gpixel.....from Matrox!!
How good a tile based renderer could they possibly have. If there is any validity to these pipe dreams you must throw embedded memory right on in there too. Yea right all this from Matrox!! If it wern't for Microsoft I doubt we'd be seeing anything near half the proposed performance of the X-Box in the upcomming NV20!
I'd like to be jaw drop shocked also when Matrox introduces G whatever I just doubt it'll that type of suprise.
