a card "good for a couple of years" ???

If you're heavily into gaming, then that is wishful thinking...

If you're not, then why buy a $600 card?

That's $600 if you buy it as an addon with a Mac system. I'd be willing to bet that on the retail market it will be more expensive to being with.

Has any card from nVidia been good for a couple of years yet? I mean hell they don't even hardly support their older cards as it is. If this card is going to be so good and can last a couple of years then why is nVidia already talking about releasing the NV30 by the end of this year. So you see you got your math wrong. That's $600.00+ divide by ~9 months = ~$66.67 per month.

At least good for a couple years is better than won't be out for years.

Well, as for the geforce3 lasting a couple of years, I assumed that it would last at least as long as my G400max, which, by the time I get my GF3 will be almost 2 years old.

Now the G400max was eclipsed by a faster card within a month of it's release, and I'm a little skeptical at this point that the same will happen with the GF3..

As for the card's price, I can't find the link now, but I read earlier on apple's site that it costs $600 seperately, the BTO upgrade cost for the G4 tower is $350.

[edit] doh! you can get the prices at the apple store, it's actually only $599 seperately

I hope the new one has DH capability. I was upset that the eTV does not have dual monitor capability. Just monitor and TV.

              OOOH

I really have gotten used to dual monitors. In fact, when I was working I was able to persuade the IT people to give me a G400Max and another 19" FD Trinitron. Hee-hee. I was the envy of a lot of people. Especially the ones that made more than me.
