    rylan,
Saying "I've seen it" is a big violation in the hardware world. That means there's silicon ready. Competitors can reasonably infer a lot of things with this information. Process/performance, time to market, other stuff. It's a big no-no.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Y'know, all other video card manufacturers release some progress statements yearly/quarterly/monthly where they tell their future plans, specifications and dates.

Only Matrox won't. They just seem to let slip a bit here (Carmack), bit there (Amiga guys), bit over there etc and nothing more. Isn't that unusual?
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

That's because they are publically held companies, and the stockholders demand to know what's going on.

That's because Matrox is privately held, they have no obligations to boost the confidence of their stock holders.

Not really, many privately held companies keep a lid on everything they do internally.

the condor was, from what people on this forum told me, the g450, which makes me fear that the condor II will not be a gamers card.

            just look at this

              Topha,

You don't get what I am saying. What does the name Condor mean to anyone besides Murcers and Matrox? So if the general public doesn't know what Condor I was, the name CondorII will mean even less. Get it?

I dont think anyone will care. they will read reviews which might explain it.
happened before, usually with games. take duke nukem 3d or doomIII (yes, there are people who dont know doom II, mostly because they were too young).
and then there is star wars, they started with episode IV

but yeah, i get what you mean now

I am sorry, but I don't buy it. The only reason to add a II to the end would be to signify to purchasers that it is the next version of the Condor, so if no one will know what Condor is, then no one will get excited. You add sequals to names to keep name recognition, not just for the heck of it.

maybe its just the internal name, like condor was for g450. maybe the public name will be g800 or whatever. why they would make a poster like that if that was the case i do not know

maybe it's just "powered by matrox condor II technology" just to make it more exciting

i don't really know what's on that poster except for that little bit, so i don't know..

but "powered by matrox condor II technology" would sound.. well, big and people will think "whoa - condor II.. don't really know what it is, but sounds great - even the geforce 3 doesn't have condor II tech

an big M wouldn't even be lying in saying so, because they indeed use condor II tech - you have to invent fancy names for everything if you want to sell it nowadays...

probably they were arguing about the rights for thunderbird with amd, and they decided that the loser would have to take condor

I think they'll announce the G450Max on Cebit, no offense to dead hard Matrox supporters.

who needs a gf3 killer at all?? noone needs games to run @ 80 fps at 1600x1200 (i dont), because i dont see a big difference between 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 on my monitor, especially when the game runs fast. and i cant see a real difference between 45 and 90 fps anymore.
what i would like is a g400 with all the new features. more than double the performance of the g400 is, in my opinion, only necessary if you want to impress people with benchmark scores.
a card performing at radeon ddr level would be just fine for me if it has dual head and good driver support.
and if M puts HSR and T&L on their chip, they would have a perfect card for me.
