    hark,
You're a little confused, but it's a confusing area, so I can see how. A card running at AGP4x voltage specs does not necessarily mean that it's running at AGP 4x transfer rates. That's the whole G400 "AGP 4x compatible" thing. Your card has two notches because it is made to run in either slot, on either voltage standard, and auto-detect how it should work. This does NOT mean you get 4x transfers. Any G400 should run in a 4x SLOT just fine, with 4x VOLTAGE, but not necessarily with 4x speed.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
