Oh no - they're not cheap things! It'd be silly to go to all the trouble of making the card so great only to be let down by a crap DVI->CRT converter.

          • It's just one extra thing in the back of the computer to get knocked about. Theres bound to a slight loss however if anyone can notice it I would be amazed.

            • Now I'm drooling hearing all this about the Parhelia. I hope the pre-orders ship early Preferably in time for WarCraft III.

                • Kruzin/Rags...

it was stated by several reviewers who say the Parhelia in action a couple weeks back that they were told that several games showed artifacts when FAA was enabled, and that 4x FAA was a fall back method... i believe one or two sites went so far as to say it was related to the stencil buffer... if that were the case, enabling volumetric shadows in JK2 would cause all sorts of problems... or doing a r_shadows 2 in q3 iirc (maybe it was a r_glshadow 2).

can you comment on this at all? was that a bug in preproduction drivers? was it a couple review sites not having a clue? is it not an issue at all?

also... i believe one of the early previews mentioned problems with stuff like word and excel with gigicolor enabled (how the hell that happened, i dunno) - have you seen any problems with games or apps when gigicolor is enabled... just curious cause i could see the loss of alpha precision breaking some things...

                    • What about...

                      ....anisotropic filtering?

I've noticed that this question's been asked by me and at least one other person repeatedly.

Is it available with Parhelia? Thanks...

                      • hehe Pace, i noticed that you didn't get much a response earlier... i suppose it is a good sign that they leave all the options enabled and don't have problems...

                        • Let's think of a better question then

Even if you can't tell us specific bug details, how does the new ICD compare to the old one? The G400 was pretty good, I'm hoping Parhelia will be even better.

                            • DGhost - I have not seen the artifact other claimed to see on the alpha cards.

WaltC - it was mentioned in several places in this thread that Anisotropic works on P.

Pace - it was mentioned more times in this thread that the new ICD is in great shape, including compaison's to Gxxx ICD.

                              • Yeah, I know it's been said to be in better shape, and more robust. But I was curious as to graphical glitches mainly, any of these?

(apologies if I'm missed this already )
