Glad to hear that! I had some concern after reading some posts regarding AGP support in the Matrox forums.

P.S. The P will probably go into a new MB anyway but I may plop it in my P2B-S first.

Morrowwind runs superb on the Parhelia.

Rags: How would you say the P's ICD compares to the G-series one with regards to performance, reliability and compatibility?

I'm guessing that Matrox want to get a workstation quality driver out there, which means fine tuned quality OGL compatible with all the high end apps, but games?

Any comments of the performance levels between OGL and D3D?

Obviously Parhelia's ICD performs better than G series, and it continues to improve.

Both D3D and OpenGL perform well, and continue to improve. I believe there is a bit of headroom in this card.

also one thing i find v.odd is that didn't some of the matrox previews say that the parhelia has 20GB/s of memory bandwidth? But at 220MHz it works out at 17.6GB/s (according to anandtech) maybe the 256mb version has 20GB/s will have 20GB/s bandwidth, that would be aorund 315Mhz memory clock i think

Yeah, that's what I was meaning Rags - how much more could it be optimised

                    Now, any bugs?

                    • New Catalog and New Enhanced Page

                      Hey Guys,
By now everyone saw that the Parhelia product is launched, we also launched the new enhanced page which should have about 4 games every week or so. Right now we have 9 listed on the launch and more to come. We also modified our game catalog to add Parhelia support, as of tomorrow keep your eyes on it since about 100 or so titles will be added for Parhelia. This way you will know what works and what doesn't on the card in case you have the game or you're planning to buy one

                      New enhanced page:<a href="http://www.matrox.com/mga/3d_gaming/surrgame.cfm">Link</a>

Morrowind, GTA 3 and others will be on the catalog tomorrow,

                      Regards,

If there were no bugs, what would they need us for? Of course I cannot comment on what bugs are in beta drivers, only bugs that you have found in release drivers.

As far as how far it can be optimized, obviously that is a question that cannot be answered, because there is ALWAYS room for improving code, my point is that Parhelia has a lot of headroom.

What do you mean by superb? Many say it runs superb on an 8500 when it still has issues of slowing down in some areas, etc. Does the fps ever drop below 30 in cities like Ebonhart (I think I spelled it correctly??)?

EDIT: And how does it run with FAA and Anistropic filtering.

I can't give you specific framerates, that was already stated earlier in this thread, and it will remain so until a released driver is out THEN I can post my specific performance numbers using that driver.

However, Parhelia is smother in MW than any card I have used thus far, WITH FAA on to boot!.

                            • That's great FAA runs smoothly on it, but what about anistropic filtering with FAA, and were there any abnomilies in the shadows with FAA.

Why on earth would their be any problems with shadows? What makes you think it would?

                                In other words, no.
