Parhelia in the house!

What about FAA and Anistropic filtering, does it run smoothly with both? And I just wanted to know about the shadows thing, I wasn't sure if Morrowind used stencil buffering for them or not.

Of course they use stencil buffering, but that doesn't mean you can't have shadows and FAA both at the same time....where on earth did you get this idea?

Parhelia performs better with FAA and Aniso on than any card I have. Period. I have stated which cards I have, and they were performing as designed, but Parhelia delivers smoother gameplay all around.

I didn't see a debate, all I saw was a misinformed post by someone who didn't know what he was talking about. I could NOT participate in that 'debate'/discussion, but he was totally wrong because he doesn't understand how FAA is done on Parhelia.

Jeezzzzz......and it has triplehead support in its menus and just gorgeous graphics. Can't wait to see the full online version.

I can tell you that I did have a few friends over a few weekends ago, and we had a small LAN party, one was using my bench system which is now home to my GF4 (and currently has identical specs to my current system, except for the graphics card and the extra monitors). I never told them what was in the machines, but they did notice that my box with the Parhelia is smoother, with less jerkiness overall playing at 1280, 32 bit, FAA turned on. I had to bite my tongue, because they ASSumed the GF4 was in my main box and my Radeon was in my bench system

Anyone who compares Parhelia back to back, turning on the goodies, with a GF4/8500 will NOT be disappointed.

I thought I was gonna explode if today didn't get here when it did.
I had that initial post for this thread ready for the last week (which is why when we where unleashed this morning it took me all of 10 seconds to get this thread started ).

So what you are saying is, that without goodies turned on Parhelia will be a disappointment when comparing back to back?

Yea...when you turn all the goodies off, the card gets slower.

If it's this impressive with all the eye candy on, why on earth would it be a disappointment with it off?

Well I think the whole point to Parhelia is the goodies turned on without a performance hit. It would probably lose to the GF4 in terms of raw performance, but I'm sure it handles AA and anistropic filtering better than a GF4 would.

Are you saying that if you get smooth gameplay with everything turned on, and it's smoother than any card on the market, and it continues to be smooth with everything turned off, you will be disappointed?

I don't know how many times I have said this, but game play is MUCH smoother on Parhelia than ANYTHING I have used, and I have the latest cards from both of the big boys.
