You have been very lucky not to experience a nVidia based driver crash and if you did, what then? Who do you tell?

I have a Matrox card... if it were to crash, I would report it on the tech. support forum and it would be sorted.
Yep, but people do do 3d in a window. It also happens when the overlay surface is being hammered. And some people even notice it while playing full screen 3d games. This banding is can be very distracting. (it sounds similar to banding I have experienced while running an IBM 686mx (cyrix chip) with certain PCI video cards)

And for Nvidia driver crashes, tell the Nvidia driver team, with reproduction instructions and such. They ussually even respond back. Probably not as good as matrox's support forums though, I admit.

The only nvidia related crashes have been due to:
      1) having an insufficent motherboard for the video card. (like running my geforce DDR on an old LX gigabyte board)
      2) my card overheating, because I have been messing around with its cooling AND hot days in perth.

I can't beleive you are still supporting matrox so strongly though. (Matrox is obviously not working hard enough to alienate you - I guess they will have to send thugs over in black suits to change your mind )

So like... has Matrox PR (as yet) commented on the quality issues with the current shipping Parhelia products (banding, clock speeds below advertised speeds)?

I know all about Haig's response - I started that thread!!!!
It doesn't fill me with confidence, though. AFAIK Matrox could keep tech support going for another 6 months and then can the support for P.

Think about all of those 'final version' tools and drivers that have been appearing recently on the tech support pages. Who's to say that Matrox won't just take a snap shot of their downloads pages on 1st April and say 'that's your lot, thank you and goodbye' ???

Until I hear something official from Matrox regarding the direction of the company I will NOT be giving them a single penny of my money.

Looking at Greebe's post in this thread
              the two owners are management
there's something I want to ask... something I should've asked before drawing any conclusions regarding management.
Are the owners actively involved in management, meaning they know what's going on and have the final call on products and MGI's direction, or they just sit somewhere on a beach having a cocktail and management falls to someone at a lower level ?

Those "final" remarks on driver pages may be the explanations why I received nothing except for the automatic reply when I sent techsupp a mail to put back TVO adjustment in PD under win2k for G200 and TVO. They removed it from drivers 5.39+ which is kind of nonsense as they worked perfectly and there were no bugs at all.

                  They are quite involved.
Maybe sitting on the beach and hiring someone (much more) professional and with a good vision to take over would have been a (much) better idea.
Seems they became nothing more than two old geezers.
Even if the decide to somehow "do the right thing", they already lost way too many great engineers to ATi and nvidia over the last 2 years.
                  Seeme like Matrox is going

Of course Matrox will support all their hardware for years to come - you can still RMA G400's, and what about all their OEM customers?

If you try to develop even a simple 3d program you'll notice it. Even if you are running it in one head and have the IDE in the other, the banding will be all across all the displays (crt).

And even playing games in fullscreen, this will really affect your eyes. You can play some MOHAA but don't choose the sniper weapon or your eyes will go really bad no matter how smooth makes FAA the game.

but I don't see them replacing my faulty retail Parhelia with one that doesn't show the banding and has fixed FAA ...

Maggi, it's just like they didn't do anything about the G200 OpenGL "out of the box" till after the G400 was out there.

Boy at this rate I'll never buy another Matrox product if this shit keeps up. I don't understand why they would want the P2 shit pulled since its been canned
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?
