Well, the funny thing we still get higher fps with the linux version, when we port windows, than running windows itself. So i don't no, I'm not a engineerstudent, I'm the human counterpart med. student.

• i would like to hear an official confirmation of the fix

Unfortunately, until I am told otherwise, our official stance is that this is normal behaviour with our card.

He does state later they are still investigating it, but as I said, unless they state otherwise, the banding is "normal".

I wonder how they are investigating it:

• They've had 4 months, and still no comment. That's NOT "still investigating." That's sweeping you under the carpet because you are unimportant and should just go away.

• My "big hug" goes out to Haig for carrying out the difficult task of working as a contact between us users and Matrox. He must be in a hard situation, because he sees us ranting but isn't allowed to say what the real situation is because that isn't company policy. Also, as a single person he can't influence very much inside the company, and even if he could he wouldn't have the time 'cause he is already working his ass off answering our rants.

Edit: Oh yes, nice to see R0M and (ex-)SalesSoup here too... Any contact (even if unofficial) between the company and its user base is appreciated.

VigilAnt also deserves a pat on the back for trying to enlighten us on the current state of affairs. This whole Matrox thing is like seeing a friend suffer; If you try to find out what's wrong with him and he just stays quiet or even gives you the finger, then you soon grow tired of that and think "okay, let him suffer". We're kind of friends of Matrox here at MURC, and it would be much easier for us to relate to the situation if we knew what the situation was. But right now we feel like our friend Matrox would have given us the finger, so we've given up on helping him and instead concentrated on gossiping behind his back.

• In my opinion even though in many cases Matrox has screwed us over, we can all agree that that we have spent a lot of cash on the Parhelia and I'm not about to give up on it As I think it is a great card, I've been messing about and have almost got rid of the banding issues altogether for me, so I believe that it can be fixed, or atleast masked in the drivers. Another thing that I find strange is that alot of "non-parhelia users" are also annoyed with Matrox, Why?? You didn't lay out any cash to buy a card so why are you so angered with Matrox Lets stay positive about it and hopefully if Matrox leave us then the community can keep the Dream! alive just like after the demise of 3dfx

• All what is happening is really sad. I remember the first time i used a matrox video card, it was Impression something, when i saw that card i must say i was impressed! running a 21 inches monitor wasn't that common for that time!
Then i used a Millennium, and it was great. Every card i used was pretty good, millennium II, m3d, g200 SD.

I started studing computer science engnering because i always had the childish dream to go and work there in canada a day.

And i always had respect for that company..
I really wish all this will have a happy end, even if i really doubt so.

P.S. a big HUG to haig for putting consumers before everything, and to VigilAnt for the news he always gave us.

I hope you are not doing 3D development, because last time i checked the Parhelia drivers do not accelerate 3D at all...

I agree with Wombat here. Even if Matrox *didn't* know about the banding issues before they released the Parhelia (like VigilAnt did mention earlier - oops, i mentioned it... will this post get deleted?), it does not take 4 months to figure out the problem. It probably doesn't take 4 months to fix the problem. the fact they have put it off for sooo long is inexcusable.

And if VigilAnt *was* right with this stuff, they have had a fixed version sitting about...

• Matrox MUST make a press release now.

I can understand why they would ask murc to remove the front page announcements, or even the threads. I don't mean I really approve, but I understand.

Especially if a few days laters, they make an official annoucement about a few points their user base is interested in. A few days to give them time to polish a press release, and perhaps time to handle a few internal matters.

But if they do not make a press release, nothing good will come out of this. You do not solve any problem by denying its existence.

There are several reasons why Matrox exists. One is that they have talented people designing quality products.

Another, essential reason, is that they have customers. And Matrox must not forget that their market is not one of low-cost hardware and occasional buyers.

Matrox customers need to have confidence in Matrox.

The recent multiplication of rumors here comes from a lack of announcements from Matrox, thus disquieting the customers.

If Matrox makes a press release about at least some of the recent issues, it means that they want to correct false or imprecise rumors. And then all is well.

If Matrox does not make any kind of press release, it either means they don't care about us, or that some rumors are true. Enough to break our confidence in them.
