pretty well any device with more than three solder points is an IC.
Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!

            ROFL... A monster

I thought IC usually refers to all transistors on a die.

aka your parhelia's actual silicon inside the plastic (in this case metal) casing/the picture you see on wombat's avatar

            edit: Also your wafar.

I've devised an active cooling system for the IC's...

...now I just need to put some sinks on them and check out the voltmod.....

I'd like to see your card to get an idea of what I might forget otherwise.....

                      Sorry for the bad quality...

The bigger cooler (50*50*25 is enough) and FAN for the GPU and a big passive (like me) or a big active cooling solution for the IRU3037 and SI4920DY IC's are absolutely necessary.

Over 266MHZ my System freeze during the Benchmark, the reason was the IRU3037 and SI4920DY were not cool enough. Now with the Copper i hope to Clock over 280MHZ.

                      Any questions? :-)

Heavy gauge copper wire... now there's a rather unique cooling solution.

Hi Scratchi, I'm interested in what Thermal Paste do you use between those heatsinks and the ICs? Is it just Arctic Silver III + Arctic Silver Epoxy?

Yeah, that SI4920DY is going to cook at that output voltage and current draw. I looked at the part spec and its got a 1.6W max power dissipation with that PCB layout, assuming there is a thermal land under the IC. So I would guess the heatsink on those parts gets pretty hot

The IRU3037 is a DC to DC power regulator with current source/sink ability. Theoretically the RC feedback compensation network should be modified to adjust for the higher output voltage, which would help the part run cooler and reduce output ripple. Unfortunately I don't have Matrox's power supply schematics so I can't calculate new values :P
