So? AGP8x doesn't do anything compared to AGP4x, not even on a Radeon9800Pro or a GF FX5950 speedwise - it just tends to create problems with old AGP8x mainboards...
If this is a core revision with other tweaks (clock, perhaps no banding....), this could be interesting. There were talks about 8x revision of core with fixes that taped out.
Probably. They had all these nice fixed cores in the warehouse, but decided they had to ship the crappy ones first.
