  • Parhelia AGP 8x out!

    ...at least i think so.

It says Matrox Parhelia AGP 8x. The other Parhelia products in the listing are all 4x!!

So? AGP8x doesn't do anything compared to AGP4x, not even on a Radeon9800Pro or a GF FX5950 speedwise - it just tends to create problems with old AGP8x mainboards...

      Haig confirmed, part is PH-A8X128.

If this is a core revision with other tweaks (clock, perhaps no banding....), this could be interesting. There were talks about 8x revision of core with fixes that taped out.

As you can see, the new revision (?) parhelia will cost less than the existing one.

The rumors were that the 8x parts would come out once they exhausted the existing stock of 4x ones...I take it it took them 2 years to do that?

Probably. They had all these nice fixed cores in the warehouse, but decided they had to ship the crappy ones first.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I did currency conversion on Komplett:

                    PH-A128-B 377€
                    PH-A128-R 410€
                    PH-A8X128 Retail 381,50€

So it's priced about 30 Euros lower than retail and slightly more than bulk.

This is the revised core, with banding and FAA fixed. Also, a slight clock speed boost.
