G400 - TurboGL doesn't work

I did have all these problems that you guys have mentioned ,including the dumping back to washed out desktop.After the latest BIOS update tho for my M/B I dont have any probs.
Q3,HL,HL-OF and UT all play excellent and fast on OpenGL. HL/HL-OF and Q3 are on TurboGL but the rest are just plain OpenGL,but all run fine,no tearing etc etc.
I'm still using PD 5.3 tho as I want to play Thief,and so far its stable,unlike when I tried 5.4/5.5.

Yeah well i just cant take 5.50 because some servers are good and others are bad so i exit half life and then i have to reboot! Well anyways, about those mgap3something files, could you explain how you do again?

Also for q2 these are the frames i got with my overlocked g400 (120.3%)

well anyways, 5.41 doesnt work for me either!! Is anyone else having this problem? When ever there is lots of movement on the scree (ie soldiers fighting and stuff) I get this weird line across the screen, like a movie that needs to be tracked and black explosions appear EVERYWHERE!!! these decals are bad but the line shudders the screen and its unplayable.

I'm left with 5.30 and with 5.30, i HAVE to use turbogl to get the best performance.

Ok, tell me what I'm doing wrong, I found the mgak7***.dll file and i copied it into my hl directory and renamed it to opengl.dll but when i run hl, it says bla bla bla opengl doesnt work.

I deleted all the mgap2 mgap3 mgak6 files except the mgak7 file and then installed turbogl but it doesnt work. When I try copying the mgak7 file and renameing it, it doesnt work. I think its more complicated than that because of the file size difference between the opengl.dll and the mgak7

the *K7*.dll must be named OPENGL32.DLL ...

and did you already try to change your Graphics Aperture Size values ?

Yeah, i renamed it and stuff and i have the agp aperture at 256

I agree that the g400 is a fast, awsome-looking card but its got too many incompatibility probs and bugs!!

you said in a previous posting here that you renamed it to opengl.dll--->it should be opengl32.dll, as Maggs already told ya.

I can<u>not</U> believe the amount of b*tching and moaning people are doing, trying to run a new CPU on a new chipset mobo (and not one of the best mobos, at that), with BETA video drivers--- and then saying something is wrong with the <u>CARD</U>!!!!

I swear, if I hear one more mini say "incompatibilities and bugs" I am going to fry half the known universe.

Heh. Methinks I'm glad I've not tried installing the new 5.50 drivers.

Rock solid with the TurboGL on my Athlon 550. HL runs fine. UT runs ok (waiting for stable DX7-optimized drivers). Are there any other games worth playing? :-)

Oh, and the major advantage of a miniGL driver is that Winblows won't bitch and moan when you try to run an OpenGL game without disabling the second head - something you cannot do with an ICD.

Anywho, it's great for me. Go back to 5.41?

You guys might think I'm an idiot but turbogl still doesnt work. I've copied the k7 file into my halflife folder and renamed it OpenGL32.dll. In halflife, it says something like this: "You're video card does not support this OpenGL something something"

The only time I would see that error is if ny desktop was set to 24bit, or if the card does not have an IRQ assigned to it.

Make sure you are in a 16bit desktop, and that your card has an IRQ (9 or above) to itself.

YEAH BUT WHAT I DON'T GET IS WHY THE OPENGL32.DLL FILES ARE DIFFERENT SIZES!!
WHEN THE TURBOGL THING INSTALLS IT, ITS 500k or something but when I COPY ITS ONLY AROUND 150k.
