Muad'Dib,

In response to your post AND email , I did not experience any crashes at all. It was rock solid to me.

And for the rest of you MURCers, here's my pitch for a guild name (I love the idea of a guild!)...

Since there are going to be Paladins (my choice of character class), and they are religious zealots, I was thinking we can create a guild that revolves around the religion of M. If you guys are too young to know, I "play" the Acolyte of M and Warrior Acolyte of M here at the MURC Forum.

So, for a guild name:

Holy Acolytes of M
or
Guild of Holy M Acolytes

Then all guild members should have Acolyte as part of their name/guild or something.

OK. Maybe I am not good with names...

(This whole Acolyte thingie stems from reading the first couple of issues of the X-Men (not the uncanny one). Magneto and his Acolytes, are like, sooooo cool! )

Off to a meeting...

Why not just:

The Matrox Adventuring Guild (MAG).
Always wanted to be Mag-Daddy (That's a joke).

Here are some more:

Adventurers of Matrox
The Fellowship of M (Tolkien, I know)

Wadda-ya-think?

Jake
Who is General Failiure and why is he reading my drive?

Hey James, I like it! Much simpler than what I was trying do.

So, how about some other variations on the idea. I like the names of the parts that you play.
Warrior Accolyte of M
and simply
Accolyte of M

The only trouble is, I personally want to accept any character class. All of those names will work reasonably well with all of the classes except the Necromancer( which personally I plan on haveing at least one).

However, I have a possible solution. We can call the guild the Accolytes of M. Within the Guild we can have 5 internal groups for the 5 classes.

Holy Accolytes of M (Paladins)
Warrior Accolytes of M (Barbarians)
Dark Accolyte of M (Necromancer)
need suggestions for Sorceress and Amazon.

We can also add prefix's/suffix's for rank.

High Accolyte of M (Guild Master)

5 Leuitenants to head up each class

Blessed Accolyte of M (Paladin Leader)
Warlord of M (Barbarian Leader)
Midnight Accolyte of M (Necro Leader)
Preistess of M (Sorceress Leader)
need suggestions (Amazon)

Keep in mind that these are all suggestions, if you don't like them, offer up a different possibilty. I admit quite freely that some of those titles are goofy.
On a related note, from what I have read, it doesn't sound like there is going to be a limit to the number of members in guild. The only limit will be the number of members allowed within a Guild House at a time. Since it's actually an in game representation of your guild house, the limit is currently 32 players I believe. Granted, we can have a lot more than that on a chat channel if need be.

HedsSpaz,

Glad we are on the same wavelength.

I like your suggestion for an hierarchy, and the name designations are pretty cool.

Here are my 2 bits:

Normal Barbarian: Warrior Acolyte of M
Normal Paladin: Pious Acolyte of M
Normal Sorceress: Spiritual Acolyte of M
Normal Necromancer: Warlock Acolyte of M
Normal Amazon: Heavenly Acolyte of M

Lieutenant Barbarian: Warlord Acolyte of M
Lieutenant Paladin: Divine Acolyte of M
Lieutenant Sorceress: Ethereal Acolyte of M
Lieutenant Necromancer: Spectral Acolyte of M
Lieutenant Amazon: Celestial Acolyte of M

Guild Master: High Priest(ess) of M

Oy. This is harder than I thought...

I think the Guild Master should just be called:

Guild Master of M or
Grand Master of M.

This way outsiders (and Bliz-rep's) can easily identify who the "head-honcho" is.

Why not drop the "Acolyte" prefix for Lieutenants.

For the Amazons, something that sounds a little bit more fierce and bitchy.

I think the Sorceress should be called something "magic" like Enchantress or Wizardress. Spiritual and Etheral makes me think of a Cleric.

For the Necromancers something a little more sinister.

Here's my revised list:

Normal Barbarian: Warrior Acolyte of M
Normal Paladin: Pious Acolyte of M
Normal Sorceress: Enchanter Acolyte of M
Normal Necromancer: Dark Acolyte of M
Normal Amazon: Impaler Acolyte of M

Lieutenant Barbarian: Warlord of M
Lieutenant Paladin: Crusader of M
Lieutenant Sorceress: Wizardress of M
Lieutenant Necromancer: Bone-Lord of M
Lieutenant Amazon: Vixen of M

Guild Master: Grand Master of M or just Guild Master of M.

-----------------------

I thought some more Guild names:

Followers of M
M-people (what a great band... NOT! Just joking)

And guys, if you don't like my suggestions it's ok, but let me know will'ya! You are ignoring me here!

Regards,

Jake

But I was being serious about it, MD. Like, really translate, not just add lots of assorted letters and pretend that it's Latin.

impact, I think you'd have an awful lot of trouble translating "Matrox" into latin.

Jake what was that? You said something. Oh, nevermind, I geuss it was just the wind.

We aren't ignoring you man, at least I didn't think we were, I'm sorry if we did though.

So, I like some of both your and James' suggestions. So, here's my revised list with some more changes of my own. I also like the idea of dropping the Acolyte for the Lieutenants.

Normal Barbarian: Warrior Acolyte of M
Normal Paladin: Pious Acolyte of M
Normal Sorceress: Enchanter Acolyte of M
Normal Necromancer: Dark Acolyte of M
Normal Amazon: Rogue Acolyte of M

Lieutenant Barbarian: Warlord of M
Lieutenant Paladin: Crusader of M
Lieutenant Sorceress: Wizardress of M
Lieutenant Necromancer: Bone-Lord of M
Lieutenant Amazon: ? of M

I have no clever idea's for the Amazon Lieutenant, Vixen however just doesn't sound right. I'm not so sure about Bone-Lord either, but for lack of anything better at the moment...

Either Guild Master or Grand Master will do for the guild master. I think I like Grand Master a little better.

Do necros have to be the bad guy. I want to play one and want to play him nice. Basically just summon enough followers and let the fight, because I tend to lag so to fight by myself is not applicable.

Impact, if you tend to lag, you REALLY don't want to be a necromancer. More guys following you around = more lag, I'm afraid.

Heck, I even had terrible problems with lag going after Blood Raven BY MYSELF. With all of her minions scrolling across the screen, my poor 56K modem kinda choked; she and her friends had a tendency to teleport from location to location, which made running after her to kill her a little hard. Of course, this IS just the stress test, but I can't imagine trying it with another player who also happened to be summoning his OWN allies.

Personally, my favorite name so far is Acolytes of M. I don't really want to use "Matrox" in the name myself. Maybe it's just me, but for some reason it just doesn't seem very, um, medieval. Call me strange if you will (you'd be right), but I don't think that would fit very well into the world of Diablo. Acolytes of M on the other hand at least has a hint of mystery to it.

So, thats my, um, I think it was about 5 and 4/7th cents.

Friends,

I believe I am on HedsSpaz's side. Matrox is not a very good medieval name. The word "acolyte" however, does conjure an archaic sense. Coupled with the mysterious letter M, I think we have a winner.

As for a the names, I like the non-acolyte appended names for the lieutenants.

How about the Valkyrie of M for the Amazon lieutenant?

Im definately in on the idea of a Matrox guild without any pk's.
As for a name how about Bumpmappers Guild
Seriously this needs some thinking, how to invent an archaic name for THE best vid card???

Other than that, the beta runs great on my g400, although Im getting tired of seeing caves level 1+2 for the 8th time . I think the full game will support 800x600 as well as much greater detail, it should be possible to see magical armor, shields etc THAT will be cool!
