    dZeus,

My Abit BX6 r.2 is almost identical to your BF6. And yes, I am using the latest BIOS.
What are you talking about? This has absolutely nothing to do with this thread whatsoever. I am not blaming his grahical errors on ACPI (DAMN, I have only said this what? 5 times now? READ THE FRIGGIN THREAD!)

I am concerned with getting his system properly setup, see Gurms first post for the reasons why we believe he has setup problems. When I set up a system, the first priority is getting it stable. Lockups are NOT acceptable, and are an indicator of problems (DUH!).

Nevermind. I am done posting to this thread. We have keystone cops in here. And to think I was just trying to help.

    Rags

    EDIT:
As for the problem that there is screen corruption (or whatever is the right name) when you spawn, if you follow the directions on either my website or here in one of the posts I made (with the three links), than you can see if it is possible to reproduce it on your system. On my system, those steps always lead to a 100% chance of reproduction.
Sorry, I have already tried that, and I don't get the problems.

Gurm, sorry, but it looks like your attempt to help this person has gone awry

As Rags and slyfox have pointed out, he's not listening. And he's not too concerned about his own system, for there are others out there with the same problems he has, so he refuses to go after a solution given, until, I guess, the problems for the others are solved as well...

I don't have the mobo this guy uses, but I think he should listen to some of the persons that have given him advice. And to call Rags "Just one beta-tester (-read: He doesn't know jack-shit about my system, so why should I listen to him?" -unread) goes beyond all believe.

To call it to that point guys: This person doesn't want to be helped. He just wants to annoy you with things he "found out himself, but didn't help", and in a turn is a waste of time and space on these fori.

(Yes, slyfox, so am I )

Advice from a person (who has a Mod tag under his name, but can't do anything here) to Galvin: Print out everything that is said in the 2 pages of this thread, and just test them on your PC... You might be surprised what could happen

Please Galvin, just try what PeterV from Edmonton has said. G400s need thier own IRQ and it should be 9 or higher. It can only share with PCI Steering. Also, I remember a while back, there was a problem with SBLives and G400s. I dunno if this has been fixed yet but it is one of the reasons I got a different sound card when it was upgrade time. Maybe this isn't it, but just try it. People are honestly trying to help ya man! These guys have gotten alot of people thru alot of jambs. I am about where you are tecnically and these guys really are gurus. Give it a go. Please.

Well I did way Rags said I installed win2K with "standard PC" but this caused some problems, first which when I installed my G400 drivers my mouse dissapeared, I had no mouse cursor, So to fix it I had to turn off PnP OS in the BIOS. I spent 4 freaking hours doing this and I only have a bare bones installation at the time of writing this.
          ============================
          IRQ Number Device
          11 Matrox Millennium G400 DualHead - English
9 Creative SB Live! Basic (WDM)

          =====================
As you can see there just isn't enough IRQ's to go around this is why ACPI is nice you don't run out of IRQ's so what happens is some of them get shared, in this case the SBlive is sharing with USB controller which is probably why my mouse is failing to initilaize i'll give the event ID code on this one as well

I still get the spawning messed up screen though I just tried quake3 now, it hasn't changed a single thing so far. But I can clone my old system back in 20 minutes if I need to, I just have this feeling it's not going to make my system anymore stable.

              Or quake3 any better.

The quake3 artifact I am talking about it in the last two pics in the Q3 artifacts thread. I still get those with this new setup which if I remembered correctly should have gone away if I used standard PC. Now I have mouse troubles instead, heh.

                Hey Galvin,

Are you illiterate? Rags never once said that doing this would eliminate any graphical errors.

I think you are just full of shit.

Rags: what exactly do you mean with 'your link'... I've linked to about 3 different OpenGL problems in this thread.
The link to the Matrox forum where you said they admitted this bug. If you read through this thread (again, you really should if you are going to argue), you will see I said there were lightmap errors, and the link you posted said the same thing I did, so what are you trying to prove? I already agreed it was there. Are you just trying to argue for the heck of it, or did you just not read this thread?

What is your point however (in your quoted part of my post)? That the problems ARE in the driver, but don't have the names that Galvin and I give them? or that those problems are NOT in the drivers, but cause by the pc config? That's what I am trying to figure out
My point is that when someone is claiming to have all this texture corruption, and is really meaning lightmap errors, then there is a lack of communication. The lightmap errors are there, I have never denied that. As far as the misplaced and missing textures on respawn, I have not seen this in win2k yet.

                  Rags

Ok I had to go back in the thread to disprove that rags never said it. Read the part :
As far as the misplaced and missing textures on respawn, I have not seen this in win2k yet.
                  -------------
I am now using a standar PC Hal, so why am I still seeing this if rags is not ?

Because its probably a driver bug or a windows glitch, i dont really know. But what Rags was trying to do was help you prevent your system locking up. After reading your posts it appears that your not paticularly concerned about the lockups your only concerned about the graphics in q3a so i think that there has been some misunderstanding here.

                      Rags:

Ive read this thread again (and the 2 other threads that this thread originated from).

I can't believe I am so stupid! My sincere apologies to you.... I wish I can just forget this hole thing as if it never happened. I'll make sure it won't happen again

Sorry for being stupid or ignorant. Using wrong terms for one thing, expecting something else. Misunderstanding the people trying to help me. I basically got mad and said stuff I shouldn't have. Sorry to the people that tried to help me.

I am using BIOS rev 1003 and the lockup's are very infrequent, i'll just need to wait for ASUS to fix it in an ACPI bios update, I am using 1003 as of now.

I cloned my drive back to my 30gig so basically undoing everything I did in the last 8 hours, no big deal, I learned a few things from it anyways. Again thanks for the help and hope that I can get help in the future

Geez, I go away for 24 hours and look what happens!

That was painful, but I'm glad it resolved... err... "well" isn't the word. But at least peacefully.

No, you're confusing it with the "Install this and your machine will never EVER EVER be productive again" OS. Otherwise known as Linux.

you're right on that Linux has a long way to go concerning the user-friendly part. The potential power of this OS however is very nice

I use it myself, but only for very specific needs, and not for overal workstation use (Windows 2000 really is one of the best mixes ever produced concerning stability, poerformance and userfriendly-ness).
