If you set game quality to noraml in the in game menu, it would crash about 10 econds into the fly by bit.
Set it to fast and it would last a lot longer.
And if set it to high quality, it wouldn't crash.

You know. I never had problems with the fly-bit introduction (tour?). I only watched it once and went to main menu once the recorded demos started.

A reply from Matrox forum told me to try:

      under rendering options:
      - texture size: small
      - texture quality: optimal
      - detail textures: enabled
      - shadowmap size: tiny
      - lens flares: custom
      - wait vertical retrace: yes
      - wide screen: off

      under advanced rendering options:
      / texture settings
      - normal size: small
      - animation size: tiny
      - effect size: small
      - normal quality: optimal
      - effect quality: 16-bit
      - filtering method: sharpen
      - effect filtering method: medium
      - filtering booster: enabled
      - dithering method: low diffusion
      - don't compress: small
      - promote to 32-bit: tiny
      - revert to 16-bit: medium

      /shadowmap settings
      - size: custom
      - quality: 16-bit
      - dithering method: minimum
      - cache size: small
      - precache shadowmaps: no

      / model settings
      - LOD quality: custom
      - shadow type: simple
      - precision: low
      - bump mapping: enabled
      - detail textures: enabled
      - specularity: enabled
      - reflection mapping: enabled

      / opengl rendering control
      - multi-texturing mode: none
      - allow greyscale textures: yes
      - texture compression system: none
      - texture rendering method: bilinear
      - texture anisotropy: none
      - texture LOD bias: normal
      - faster rendering: models only
      - access mode: compatibility

However, my computer still crashed hard.

It may not just be Matrox cards. Serious freezes me up after a few minutes with my Radeon too. Locks solid in multiplayer. Kinda nice looking before that happens though.

If you have Faster Rendering enabled for anything, the game will crash. It needs to be completely disabled. Also, if you set textures to 32-bit, weird texturing artifacts will start building up. Just leave it at optimal.

Oh my gosh! That seems to work! I was playing for an hour from Valley of the Kings to Suburbs level! I did find one problem with the slow down in the Oasis level.

http://home.apu.edu/~philpi/temp/Ser...400-Choppy.jpg ... see the pillars? They are messed up and slow my machine to a crawl. It didn't crash though. I had to set the texture size to small instead of huge to skip this area. I guess this is a bug!

I'm not sure whats going on there. When I went through that room I didn't notice any problems (unless you count what happened when I grabbed the health +1 token at the alter, which sorta traumatized me). I'm pretty sure those pillars are models, though. Either setting the model LOD a bit higher or setting the precision to normal should take care of it.

I know model LOD is at its max, but I am not sure about precision. I think it is at max too. :I I am now at the level where you play them in thest test demo, but at night time! Fun game!!!!!!!
