Yeah I've tried the patches and they work well, although without ranking atm. Problem with the linux 'LAN' server, which could run 24/7 on my server, is that it's very unstable, and it crashes within a couple of hours.

thanx for feedback, Frank.
what's the official stance on this, is everybody forced to connect to an EA server or what ?
btw, apparently my SBLive has gone down the drain, ie. during POST it doesn't get recognized anymore, but Win2k finds at least some parts of it, assigns an IRQ and installs drivers, but I cannot hear a thing and all sounds relevant apps seem to be hanging.
Therefore I couldn't give NFS another go to beat that speed record you set, but hoepfully I get it all sorted out and then ... I'll be back !

fark !
apparently my SBLive is dead ...
no matter what I tried, I end up with a POST process that doesn't see the card at all, but Windows insist on assigning an IRQ and installs drivers, but it seems that all I can do is to send 32KB of Audiodata to the card and then all apps stall and keep hanging until I shut 'em down via taskmanager.Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

Thanx for the thought, if it only was that simple ...
Thing is, I am planning to finally upgrade my old rig anyways (Asus P2B-S, Celeron566@850, 512MB PC100) to either a Barton 2500+ plus MoBo, plus RAM, plus PSU or I even might go the Athlon64 route and all MoBos I took into consideration so far are supposed to be equipped with onboard audio that provide S/PDIF in- and output.
the only reason that's holding me back is a severe lack of funds ...
so now I'm even more trapped than before, because now my old system is lacking some basic functionality and I really don't know, if I should shell out a few bucks for a new soundcard, which obviously would delay the whole upgrade plans even further.
me is frustrated now.Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

hey ... there's light on the horizon !
a good friend of mine just offered me his olden AWE32 value and to my big surprise, that one has an S/PDIF output onboard ...
looks like I can save those bucks now, until I have enough money for the big upgrade
Cheers,

But I couldn't find any real ISA tweaks, except for that odd OC'ing option and ISA enable bit, which don't seem to apply to my Asus P2B-S, but I'll have to double check for that.Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

I managed to hit 367.39 km/h with my Mazda RX-7, with all the upgrades, in one of those drag races! The max speed that I reached was 369.27 km/h but my engine blew just before the finish line So my "official" record is the one mentioned at the top!
Cheers
