well... since the """"beta"""" you refer to is nothing more than a repacked build of the illegally leaked E3 demo, it has so little in common with the acctual game its not even funny. I doubt your configs will work - they have changed a lot of things rather drastically since then.

the real game seems to be a lot more system intensive than the """"beta"""" you are talking about - they added a lot of graphical goodness to it, and it definately pays off.

in addition, the plot/atmosphere really do rely on most of these effects. If you tweak it down to playable framerates, you will loose a lot of the immersiveness.

not to mention the fact there were lots of texture issues when I ran it, even when I had things turned down...

Lol. I haven't logged in here for years. I still have my G400MAX though!

I wonder if bigM is going to fix your drivers? It would be really sad if they just sit around and laugh at this whole situation. Sounds like a GF256 is more capable than the Parhelia. It's absolutely stunning. I wonder if it's the drivers, or hardware disfunction.

          I'm getting that too.
I should have bought an ATI.

I think we all get that artifact for now. Parhelia users that is. I have a feeling though the Matrox tech guys will do their best for this title.

why? Matrox stopped officially supporting games a long time ago. and they have had at least 2 years of time with the P to work on Doom3... probably more like 3. If they had wanted to, they could have had a driver that worked right for it. ATI did. NVidia did. 3Dlabs did. and all three of those companies had Doom3 running on their products with very little problem 2 years ago.

heeh dghost is right. theyr not gonna do much to make a card and make it run with doom 3, if they do itll be about 3 years from now when computers will run this game at their highest resolutions and eye candy still getting high fps. matrox is allways behind with things.they made a great card in terms of its idea of"tripple head" but they didnt do much else to the card itself"performance wise" if they make another new card it will probably be the same thing"one great feature" and tons of other problems... and Im screwd now, I want to get a high end card like a 6800 or something so that I can PLAY d3, but I dont want to give up my parhelia. dual agp mobos should exist!! lol

Ok, I think this should help

In your autoexec.cfg change this line

                      seta image_useNormalCompression "1"

Apprently some dudes with other cards are getting there characters split down the midlle as well

Lets us know if it helps

Nearly every character seems to have a noticeable split, shadow issues not so bad on high quality though, suggests both sides of the model are lit indepentantly.

Only two reasons I can think off for the line, one they haven't merged the center points or two the uv coords don't quite mirror correctly, either way it is very sloppy from a professional studio.

I wonder why they still can't make heads look round in games, the same goes for the wheels, its always square :/

                                Hi Guys ...
RichieG over at Matrox posted this fix for the strange character face shadow/split thing ....

                                Hi Guys,

I found a way to get rid of the clown faces on the characters with Parhelia,

Open the DoomConfig.cfg file and look for the line

seta image_useNormalCompression and set it to 1
May be it will help those using other graphics cards too.
