. with the beta ive been running ever since i was released Ive been fidling and playing around with the config and got d3 to run at a playable framerate, maybe Ill just transfer that config to my real doom 3 folder..that is once it arrives lol.

the real game seems to be a lot more system intensive than the """"beta"""" you are talking about - they added a lot of graphical goodness to it, and it definately pays off.
in addition, the plot/atmosphere really do rely on most of these effects. If you tweak it down to playable framerates, you will loose a lot of the immersiveness.
not to mention the fact there were lots of texture issues when I ran it, even when I had things turned down...
