Here it is. Part of original image is in a botom right corner and the rest of the picture is a 4 times zoomed part of an original part. Do you see that dashboard-like dithering?

There are some nice ideas like the PDA (way better than just find key, open door, find next key, open next door), some bad ideas like not be able to shoot when carrying the flashlight (at least the flashlight and not-so-heavy weapons like the pistol should've been possible).
Overall i've mixed feelings. I think i will finish it, but slowly the should-be-horror-because-its-dark-effect worns out for me.

r_brightness higher than 1 will burn out highlights and therefore I recommend setting r_gamma to 2, but still the shadows stay black ...

check out this one:
make a file called autoexec.cfg in the base folder
add "set com_PurgeAll=1"
of course, you could add any cutomization like level of anisotropy, multisampling etc. into that autoexec.cfg as well, but the "com_PurgeAll" will cause the game to flush out the entire RAM, so that you'll most likely get rid of intermittent stuttering within the game.Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

is there a list somewhere where all these entries/modifications are listed with their meaning? I checked rage3d a bit, but found only some tips, but no good explanation
Thx

The same settings after the beta drivers ...

I wish I had improved drivers for my Parhelia !
Not too bad though...

searched a bit more and found this site:
http://www.tweakguides.com/Doom3_1.html
Around 10 sites of tips how to optimize the game (standard non-game-related optimizations, trouble shooting, explanation of the commands, ..). Looks really good if you ask me
