that fix does improve it, but sometimes yo u still have the split in the faces

those shadow bugs are annoying too, but I don't think Matrox will release new drivers just for doom 3
Hey! You're talking to me all wrong! It's the wrong tone! Do it again...and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron

            no worries Pt wak

I wonder why they still can't make heads look round in games, the same goes for the wheels, its always square :/

The only time I have seen round heads is with my old 8500 with truform enabled

Im I the only person running this game at 3072 x 768 ?

I may only get around 15 fps but i think this game is very playable. (my theory is that my eyes move during the jerkiness so it doesn't seem so bad) I did that seta image_cacheMegs thing (but mine is at 256 (i dont know if this makes a difference)) and im enabled the cache. I think it helped. I have no problems with the 2 colors faces anymore (i did that other setting change, not that i really cared (they looked like that race from star trek which is cool)).

My only problem is when there is smoke. It will drop to about 5 fps, but thats just more of an incentive to not get hit by fireballs.

Medium setting, all advance feature off except fpr that vertical one (i forget what its called)

I've been playign the game on my P and although it's full of artifacts I actually enjoy it to a point!

I will play the whole game again when or if I get my new Radeon!

                Cheers,
                Elie

Have you tried the ATI tweak over at rage3d, it not really ati specific and it *might* quicken doom 3 up on a parhelia

So is D3 really living up to the hype? Like, I know it's supposed to be beautiful, but the reviews I've read are mixed. They say it's essentially the same game as before but with prettier graphics.

And as far as the graphics go, I'm not into the horror genre so I don't think I could get into it.

So far, Halo's got to be my all time favourite FPS.
                    P.S. You've been Spanked!

Hmm...got it, played a little bit...it seems veeery similar to Half-Life, only with less lighting. BTW, setting the cache to 256 I find it playable on my Parhelia AGP 4x@1024x768, medium details, no advanced features. Simply put, it bored me after 20 minutes.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Hm.. Just understand that D3 is using 16-bit mode on my P750. It looks good, thanx to matrox dithering, until 4xfsaa is off. So how to set 32-bit mode for D3?

i didn't even know you could enable 16bit color on D3.

I can post screenshots with visible dithering effects.

are you sure that it is not artifacts from texture (including the normal and specular maps) compression or from the low precision pixel shaders?

I'm sure this is not due to texture compression - I saw bump map compresion artifats and that is not the same. It is really looks like dithering. And when I tried the game with 4xFAA i saw color gradients in dark places. Assuming that 4xFAA is actually averaging neighbor pixels, even if dithering was used, the dithering effect will be annihilated using 4XFAA.
P.S. I'll post screenshots tomorrow (I'm at work now, and there is only FX5200)
