  • Ees, yup, they could push out more, but the webservers (Linux) are heavily used, so the seti process gets relegated a lot to lower division.

The workstations get Seti'd from 7pm to 8am, just about enough to knock off a unit - and theyre NT

My Home machines get used for compiler compiling and gaming, as well as video work, so the Seti process goes on/off all the time, and I use 98/NT and Linux on them too ...

    • sigh ... I guess I was that breakfast ... right, Stefan ?

Anyways, I usually run two instances of the cmd-line version on my working rig (see below) and my home rig (also below) needs a li'l less than 10 hours to crunch a unit.

In the last couple of days I installed it on my new working G4-450 and that puppy uses a graphical interfaces version. Despite that slower graphical version, it needs less than 8 hours to complete a unit ... all I can do is wait for MacOS 9.1 to run the Mac-cmd-line version ...

        • They'll optimize for MACs, but not for SSE or 3DNOW!!! @$#!&( !!!

CHRIS- Now you've kicked it into high gear and are paseing me aaaargh. Oh well we can use the WUs.

Soon we'll be on TEAM 3DNOW's door (well maybe not so soon without a few defections), maybe then some of those who in the "OLD" days of MURC@SETI wouldn't join because they were in TEAM 3DNOW, will join the fold, and abandon their errant ways.

Way to go ANT, a little advertizing on your front page has paid of good dividends, in new users!!!

I make a motion to use the alien MURC@SETI logo on the MURC site as the graphic displayed on our team page, instead of the MURC circle image. Any other votes to accept the motion?? What do you say SteveC

                            • Guardian, use the setiathome-1_3_1386-winnt-cmdline.exe under Win98... works like a breeze in a DOS window

The only thing you have to think about is to quit the program when you close down Win98, as it doesn't automatically close the DOS box (I haven't found a way yet, anyway).
