Boy, it's getting pityful to blame a bloatware victim simply because of the usual matrox time schedule mis-attitude. And you call a sufferer a loser, what is then matrox with this skyhigh vopur propelling moron

Hi!
It seems like many of you guys only care about yourselves. YOu got your G400 or G400 max so everything is okay for you.
Some of us have ordered the G400 cards have not even received it yet. My point is by the time Matrox sends the cards over to us, the next generation cards will be releasing soon.
DOn't tell me that NV10 or Voodoo4 will not release this year. YOu don't even know. I have a friend working at Creative and he will not lie to me about the NV10. Soon after he told me, someone from the US posted that the NV10 will surely release this year. Now we have 2 people point out the same thing from different parts of the world.
You just don't want to believe it because you have your G400 already. Probably I am still going to keep my G400 Max order because I am told that by Mid August I will get my G400 Max. I like to buy the best VGA cards in the market but the point is that Matrox was supposed to ship the G400 Max way earlier. They screwed up.
Ok! I just have one fact for you. When the NV10 and Voodoo4 releases this year, G400 will not be as popular as it is now. It will be just another ATI Rage Fury!

Manoj Mahtani

Manoj,
I know you're not gonna like me for what I'll say, but I am only saying what I think (just like you). You seem to believe every shitty rumor of the net. Well just read what I found:
"Trident has just announced that they will rule the video card market again with their new product: the Trident SVGA - 2. It will feature a 2 Ghz RAMDAC, and will be clock @ 400 / 500 mhz. It will feature everything possible, DualHead, EMBM, T&L, tv in / out, 0.15 micron, etc.... The SVGA - 2 will be available tomorrow, will cost $30 and will be easy to find in stores. The drivers are already final and the openGL ICD is rock solid."
Come'on, Manoj, get a life. What cpu have u got? Do u only live to get over 300 fps / second in Quake 3? By the time NV10 and V4 will be AVAILABLE in stores, ATI, Matrox, 3DLabs, Savage and any other chip maker will have other products in development. So, DO NOT buy a NV10 or a Voodoo4 because, let's say you decide to buy a NV10... Your topics in a NVidia channel will be:
"Oh no! ATI Rage 256 due in march?"
"Oh no! Matrox G800 due in april?"
"How will NV10 compete with Rage 256 / G800"?
"NV10 has been out for a while, but no game / cpu is powerful enough to fully use NV10?"
But then again, DO NOT buy a Rage 256 / G800, because... you get the point.
If I were you, I would just wait a bit again to see if you can get your MAX, and if u decide that you've waited enough, go buy a f****** TNT2 or V3, and sell the card when NV10 / V4 are AVAILABLE! (in 2000). You must really be a newbie to computers, just by the way you are worried about the industry. It has always been like this and will always be.
So, here is an advice: buy what is available now and enjoy it. Don't read all the hardware site news or you'll get jealous and won't be able to enjoy your present computer anymore...

Fastman:
I can certainly presume that the 3dfx drivers won't work. EVERY company, when releasing a new platform, has historically released utter drek for drivers. Examples include, but are not limited to:
nVidia releases TNT: 90% of SS7 boards don't run correctly with it, and the other 10% crash randomly. All other systems have severe game incompatibility problems. In addition, it is released at 25% under spec speed.
ATI releases Rage128: Out of box, the drivers crash EVERY system. All of them. They just don't work. 2 days later better drivers are posted, although how you are supposed to download them without a working video card is beyond explanation.
3dfx releases Voodoo Rush: It's 1999, and they STILL don't have stable Rush drivers.
3dfx releases Voodoo Graphics: Most D3D games crash randomly with first-rev Voodoo drivers.
You get the picture. NOBODY can release stable drivers on a first-gen product. G400 isn't a first-gen product. Neither is TNT2 or Voodoo3.
Maxie:
I agree that people have that tendency, but the problem is this. Manoj hops in here with 8 postings in 4 days all of which read:
"Oh! NO! What ever will we do about the NV10 Threat!?!?!"
"G400 cannot possibly beat NV10!"
"Voodoo4 will crush G400 in just 25 days!"
It's rude, that's all. If he has a valid gripe (which he does), he should restrain his inflammatory posting to that gripe.
Trav:
Where have I backpedaled? Please, by all means, I welcome nVidia or 3dfx to release a card that:
1. Works out of box for the majority of games.
2. Has no discernable 2D defects.
3. Has high-quality visuals.
4. Ships on time.
Won't happen. If it DOES happen, it would have to be superior to my G400 before I'd switch. And I don't think there is a card out there that is superior to the G400 in 2D, and there won't be this year or next.
Manoj:
I'm sorry you feel maligned, both by us and by Matrox. Yes, they are dragging their feet. Yes, they have definitely messed up on delivery this time around. Yes, they should be better about it. However, I beg of you to examine the following facts:
- You STILL cannot buy a Hercules TNT2-Ultra. You just can't get 'em. Sources say 9/9/99. I refuse to believe that nVidia's new generation of cards will have coincidental release dates with their flagship last-gen product. WHY would they do that? Would Ford say "Look, here's the 2000 Mustang. It costs $15,000!" and simultaneously say "Look, here's the 1999 Mustang, it goes half the speed, and basically sucks in comparison, but it costs $17,500!"
No.
And I don't care how many rumors your friend at Creative tells you, my sources indicate that nVidia cannot possibly fabricate any 0.18m chips in the next 6 months. That means any chip they put out will be nowhere near as powerful as the released NV10 specs, which indicates another product, maybe an interim product.
And just because you believe every since-disproven Internet rumor doesn't make them real. Everyone tells their kids Santy Claus is real, but that don't make it so.

Hey Manoj,
Keep posting man, disregard the foul language and bad attitude of some of the people in here. This is the most popular of all the matrox forums and you want to have your protest heard. Like I said before, you speak for a lot of angry and frustrated people.
Matrox likes to wait and put out a good product. That's respectable. But advertising what they can't produce waaaaayy ahead of time, to increase revenue... isn't.

And shouting about products waaaaaay ahead of them even sampling to OEMs is respectable I suppose?
Haven't you guys woken up to the fact that Manoj is a troll? (albeit a more polite one than we usually get around here)
If you are genuine Manoj, cancel your G400 Max and pre-order a Voodoo 4. There, that makes sense doesn't it? Or pre-order an NV-10. Go ahead. We won't mind, will we folks?

Hi!
I am just waiting to see what your reactions will be when you get the confirmation that the NV10 and Voodoo4 will release this year.
I will not cancel my pre-order with Matrox for my G400 Max. I already told you from my first few posts that I want the best. When the NV10 and Voodoo4 releases I will also buy them. Why not? I have 2 computers.
You still don't get why I am upset. Matrox was supposed to ship the G400 Max way earlier but they didn't and this pissed me off. I am just laughing at all of you guys when you think that I am pissed that the next generation cards are releasing. They were supposed to anyway. I am just pointing out one obvious thing. That is Matrox will ship the G400 max when faster cards are going to release. Thats all.
If you have spent your hard earned money on a G400 Max thinking that it is the best card in the market then think again. Better card are not far behind.
I am not a troll! I like the G400 Max but am only pissed with Matrox that they have failed to ship their product on time and making those who have not yet received their cards a very long time.
I have nothing against you guys! I don't know why you guys are thinking it so personally. YOu guys are attacking me like I am the cause for Matrox to delay their shippments.
Regards,
Manoj Mahtani

Hi Tylau,
I am so glad that you bring the discussion of the beloved V3 3500 into this thread. 3dfx had originally planned for this card to be released in APRIL!!! Well at least it is here now. I may have a "pigeon brain" in your eyes, BUT, you have been ramblin on and on and on about VVVV, V4, 7/6/5/4....days to go for some time now, implying that the V4 was going to be released. WHERE is it? Oh yeah, that's right, I forgot it is just a couple of days away. Matrox is not the only company that has to ramp up production to meet exceeding demand for their products. Nvidia has it happening, 3dfx has it, ATI had it for the first month that people actually thought it was worth anything. I am really excited, no really really really excited the 3500 is here today, and the V4 is going to be here next week. Let us know when you recieve yours, I would like to know how it performs WHEN you get it.
Matt

Announcing a release date is not good enough I know very few products that actually ship when they are supposed to. This is why I always try and discourage people from being parted from their money by pre-orders. Obviously people are different but I will never pre-order anything, if I order something I want to know that it is readily available when I part with my money.
There are too many variables in the manufacturing industry to take any release schedule as set in stone. If you are going to place pre-orders on a product that is not readily available if it is aviable at all then I'm afraid you have to accept the consequence of possible delays.
As for the constant aanouncements of products from Nvidia and 3dfx I'd prefer if you took them to a relevent forum this is a Matrox hardware forum.

Discussion Over!
Stop posting now! It is no point!
I did what I had to do. I posted on the most popular Matrox Forum and let all you guys know what is going to happen very soon.
I have nothing against any of you guys. Nothing. I am sorry if anyone has been offended in any way.
I hope that you can understand my point of you as well. I am not pissed that the NV10 and Voodoo4 are going to release soon but only because Matrox has failed to deliver their product on time. If their competition can release newer cards in the same year then why can't Matrox ship their current generation cards?
Anyway, sorry! I know you guys hate me. I will probably not post any more message and if I do it will be regarding any problems I may have with the G400 Max that might be shipped to me by mid August. Lets see if there are going to be any more delays.
Regards,
Manoj Mahtani

Oh!
I last thing I want to make clear to you guys.
I know this is a Matrox Forum and that is why I posted here. I am talking about Matrox and their delays not advertising about NV10 and Voodoo4. I am not stupid. I know you will probably read about it from some other website. Obviously not on this website.
Why can't you get my point?

Manoj Mahtani

What I don't understand is why people always want to wait for the next card. If you do that, you will never buy anything.
When I need a card (or anything else for that matter), I buy what is in stores at that moment. When I'm hungry, do I wait the next batch of apples because they will be more red ?
When I bought my first computer (many years ago), a better one came out a month later. I was frustrated. But at least I had that computer for a month. I did a lot of thing with it in that month. If I'd waited, I would have lost a lot of time waiting.
And one more thing... I left this forum a couple months ago because of the ridiculous wars that were going on. I come back and it's going on again.
Everybody has the right to an opinion whitout being flamed (I'm polite). Please, it's only a piece of metal and plastic.
