  • "And a vote for Buchanan is a vote for Al Gore because it takes away from the vote for George Bush and no matter how much we dislike it there are only two candidates that even have a chance of winning and Buchanan isn't one of them"

Ah yes this is one that has been stated by everyone who belives that BUSH or GORE already owns my vote. Buchanan earned my vote and now it is his. It is not a vote taken away from someone. This thought process is how we got stuck with two boobs. My life started with Eisenhower and JFK and look at this Gore/GWB??...Is there somthing in the water? Is it TV? WHAT !!! I think it is going to change in the next 20 years. This monopoly cannot be held forever. The Reform party is the longest lasting 3rd party in the nations history, and the first to run a canidate that is not the parties founder. It's all about purpose and beliefs. I vote for who I WANT for president. This is not a sports bet here...Buchanan is not my messiah (I am a big George Washinton fan)I thought is was a good time to get involved in an election. How was I to know that my guy would poll at 1% ?

"Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph. --Haile Selassie"

    • The reason I said that, is that most of the votes that Buchanan gaines are probably votes that would have gone to GWB if Buchanan was not running. The take away vote that Ross Perot gained, when he ran, was the reason for Clinton/Gore being in there in the first place. I agree that it is time for someone else to take the reins other than the repulicans or the democrates, but convincing the rest of society is going to be difficult. And even if we were to get a thrid party candiate in there, they would still have to contend with the house and senate which is either republican or democrate controled.

        • See, I'm really torn here!

I too believe that there is a valid point to voting for the candidate you believe in. In my case this is Mr. Browne.

However, I hate Gore SO MUCH, and I have no illusions as to any 3rd party candidate winning THIS election, that I have to ask myself...

Am I willing to allow an EVIL man like AL GORE into office for four years in order to further, by one vote, a party that will take at least another 10-20 years to even come close to having a chance?

Or, am I willing to set back by one vote that party's progress in order to keep AL GORE out of office?

          *sigh*

          I don't know. I hope I decide before November.
