OmegaRed: I didn't even pay attention to the debaters names, and I won't go back and look now. The LAST thing I'm gonna do is start a fight in here, out of RESPECT for America.

Omega, how does one distinguish a civilian from a soldier in a terrorist state where children are armed and taught to hate and kill Americans, and prey upon and mock our sense of fairness and decency at every turn? Im not saying that real life resembles a movie here, but if you would watch Rules of Engagement, you would see what I mean. Armed arabs on balconies alongside women with babies shooting at Marines, daring them to fire back and risk killing "innocents." Every man, woman, and child in a crowd around an embassy, wielding guns, taught to hate, taught to shoot.. what kind of evil enlists the children of his people as targets? Suppose this were what we faced? It's a no win situation..
As sick as this may sound, this awful thing seems to have brought out the best in many people. Without getting into many details (I have a top secret clearance), the RCMP have dedicated their main computer systems to the intelligence effort to aid American agencies (mainly the FBI). People were lining up at blood banks in Canada long before the call for blood went out. And thats only 2 small examples just from us. The effect is almost world-wide (or so it seems, with the given exception of the entire middle east). Its nice to see that something exists that can actually make us feel more like citizens of the world rather than of a country. Too bad it had to be something this awful that produced the effect.

GO BUSH GO - DO WHATEVER IS NECCESSARY, BUT GET THE RIGHT ONES.
whoa hold up here. I leave this post for a few days and everyone's shitting on me.
I see, I say something negative (I wasn't outright trying to diss USA, merely honest personal opinion) and everyone flames me. I wasn't flaming anyone. Read my post, did it seem like flaming? If it did, I apologise. I apologise to everyone I offended. I was merely giving my honest opninion. I wasn't trying to sound like a dickhead. Can I do that w/o getting flamed?
America is a great country. Yes it is. It helps out many countires. Yes it does. It got kicked in the balls a few day's ago. Yes it did. And I genuinly feel that sucks.
If somebody posted some a post containing anything like "God bless Canada", there's a good chance somebody would post something like I did. Saying that the article is too ass-kissing.
I read articles kissing Canada's ass too. I think that's just as much bull-shit as the article that was initially quoted here. Those are my opninions.
I don't fill out my "profile" here because I'm too lazy. Am I a "coward". No. I don't come here very often (I use the Firingsquad and Anandtech Forums), so i don't bother filling any of that crap out. I don't post my email cause I don't want to be bothered by ppl flaming me. If you want to flame me, flame me here.
I live in Canada. I am personally biased towards Canada. I feel that Canada is every bit as much of a great country as the US of A. Do I get labeld as a heartless dickhead for that?
Just give me a break. If you disagree with my opnions say so. But why just flame me outright. I wasn't insulting any of you personally. So why give me a full-on personal attack?

For the record my email is, and always has been, open for all readers of this forum to contact me. I have never received hate mail, only some email bombing from a weak hearted prick. I have it up so anyone can contact me off the forums if they wish to do so and also as a way to show that I don't hide behind some imaginary handle on the internet.
Evil, this thread is titled "A tribute to America", not "Here's an article, what do you think?" No one asked what you thought. Frankly I don't care what you think. So just stick it. Thank god there is an ignore function on this forum.
I checked out your link and boy was I moved. For me the most moving picture, especially after the thread I started the other day, was the one of the two Palestinan women.
Thanks for sharing that with us.

I do personally find your post to be that of a heartless dickhead. I find them to be very disrespectfully especially considering what alot of Americans, including myself, are going through at this time. I didn't know anyone there personally but yet I feel like I have lost a family member.
No the article may not have been 100% factual but IMO you seemed to have missed the real point of the article. The point is that this guy is sick of seeing the USA kicked around and bad mouthed by the very ones we have helped in the past. I'm not denying that alot of countries are now kicking in to help out but look what it took for that to happen.
And did you take the time to realize that maybe we do need a hug?
I just hope that you don't have to go through this and then have some 'heartless dickhead' continune to kick you while you are down.

1) The Rock, sure i made some comments on the "tribute" copypasted on the first post, but just reading a bunch of lies as a tribute is IMHO no tribute at all.
Most of the world is mourning with you guys, there was 1 minute silence allready yesterday everywhere in Finland and now today is officially EU's mourning day with 3 minutes of silence @12.00 CET... I know that there are ALOT of flowers and candles brought to the american embassy here in Helsinki. Allthough these things are something you will never forget you really should try to understand why these things happen all over the word, not just in US. Going after every muslim really makes the whole thing SO much worse ( and you can be sure things could be ALOT worse than this ).
I was in so much shock after the first day that i didnt even go to work next day, just tried to clear my head. Maybe you guys should do the same. I have made couple post over this situation and got my first private msg thanking about something i said in another thread.
2) KvHagedorn, so what was wrong there, nothing.. just cound remember that guys name and didnt feel like searching for it at that time.
3) Six Of One, thnx didnt know that it REALLY was propaganda letter from the past, sure sounded like one.

I'm sorry if I came across that way, but I'm afraid the reporters statements of "Nobody helps" are either blatantly untrue or misleading in this case.
Uplift America by all means, but please dont crap on the rest of the world to do it.

I don't agree with alot of the contents of the article but I agree with the sentiment, the US is hurt and angry the moment. Hell I'm hurt and angry, a lot of Brits died on Tuesday too.
There's an old saying which is appropriate here:
"If you can't say anything nice then don't anything at all."
