Why don't people include an option in their polls to vote that all of their above options are f***ing lame?

                  Sorry Dogbert
but seeing as I find the idea of smoking anything repellant, I am not in a position to answer the question. A better question might be "Does smoking cannabis lead to hard drugs and the associated increase in crime etc"? If the answer to that is no then I suggest it be legalised. Oops, I think they have that already proposed in the UK.

                  Regards MD

[edit] Just realised that much of the hard core crime in the UK involving firearms appears to be drug gangland related. If that is the case, then legalise Cannabis. That would at least allow it to be controlled and the government to get some revenue.

You have to bear in mind from which section of society that makes up the ruling elite to try and understand why they think and act the way they do. British politicians arent always employed for their brains or ability. Prescott! Straw! etc.

                      regards MD

I think that that argument might have been true 5 or ten years ago, and is changing at the moment, and will continue to change as a younger generation of MPs feed through. Admittedly, this won't count for youger Tory MP's, but I am willing to bet that over 80% of Lib Dems under 40 have tried it, and approaching 50% Labour MPs who are under 40.

We are hearing more open, public debate that is taken seriously as time moves on, and this will only move in one direction I think (unless there is a BIG health scare on cannabis), but the timescale is years or decades still, not months.

Shame the current government doesn't really like or encourage civil liberty or individual responsibility for oneself really...

Individual responsibilty that unfortunatley went out in the 70's and 80's. Today if you put you head in a gas oven and burn't yourself it's the companys who made it fault.

As for the drugs theres nothing more irrating working with someone whos on another planet. You're better off locking them in the john.

I agree. But that's exactly why legalisation is the only answer - the more open and honest we are about what we do the better. People around here certainly don't drink on the job (OK - that's another change for the better over the last 10/20 years), and that is because we can be quite open about when we do and don't drink. With dope we are all slightly underground, and hence you cannot even apologise for not being quite with it the morning after - unlike alcohol. No excuse, but at least everyone knows where they stand.

Anyway. Got to go home (yes - working on a bank holiday ), so no more debating for now from me I am afraid.

PS I am not actually that keen on the stuff myself, despite (because?) being a regular drinker/heavyish smoker. But I am still keen for it to be legalised.

                              gnep out.
