I've just heard that God is coming in person to bang some heads together and to arrange in person some express elevators to hell for the undesireables.
Satan is getting some new pits ready.

The method I posted about, seizing the oil fields, isn't mine but one that has been a recurring theme by pols of widly divergent stripes. If it eventually happens don't be shocked.

If you mean by the world, America and Britian - then it would be just another example of emperialism in this single-superpower-mess-of-a-planet!
There is not a chance in hell that the 'world' ie- the rest of it, could go along with that nonsense..... You are saying that american intrests should control not just information in the flow of the internet, military supremacy but also the major economic currency of the ENTIRE world.... I dont think so!
the reason the USA hasnt made a big deal made a huge issue about the Wahabi is because they cant... Opec would have the US and the rest of the world paying 100$ a barrel, and everyone would suffer - immediately - do you remember the queues for gas in the 1970's? it would be like that with bells on! We have discussed the state and capacity of the US oil fields before, but in a nutshell (for those just tuned in)
1 the US could be self sufficient in oil, if it was economic to drill for it all, which its not currently, and which would have to stay above 37$ a barrel to even think about commissioning.
2 The US oil reserves tend to be of the high sulphur/high residue trype, and must be mixed with other, lighter oils (such as Brent Crude) to make a crude which can be effeciently refined.
The American people might be in favour of the US taking Saudi, if the US government put the right spin on it... But you can bet your bottom dollar that the US multinational industries wouldnt!
RedRedDont just swallow the blue pill.

We depend on them for about 40% of our oil but could drop it to 20% or less if not for the enviro-weenies, but Japan depens on them for 80% or more.
Still think the US & UK would be alone if things go to hell? Nope.
This, however, may not have to come to pass. The Russian & American govts. are working on agreements to help them develop their huge Siberian resources.
IF this comes to pass perhaps the better/simpler alternative for all concerned would be to just tell the Saudi's to take their oil and shove it where the sun don't shine
Either way works for me.

However it's not in the oil companies interests so they'll preasure other industries into not devoloping new tech. Any new tech the oil companies develop will be kept behind closed doors. This is probably why we're still driving around in cars that struggle to break 40 mpg around town.

To hell with opec and all other oil related companies..... alternative fuel is the way to go.... its time to lobby the oil companies...... u really want to put the oil countries at risk this is the best way..... since to be honest most oil countries have no alternate method of income..... so instead of going for the the old "hostile take over" method it would serve everyone’s interest to go for alt fuel....
1. Better environmental management
2. No bloodshed
3. Cripple the oil countries
force is just not the right thing anymore and not even the US can justify a takeover of Saudi Arabia... remember violence will only lead to more violence and I believe this is something we all want to avoid.....
Think of it this way ... the more the US and CO. use violent tactics against the Arabs the more the Arabs and non Arabs will have a reason to resort to terrorist activities..... the opposite works the same way....
and for crying out loud we are in the 21st century .... Where are the hovering cars we where promised as kids
