Well my old dad is a oily... on the Transocean rig Wildcat, for the time being in Scotland. So I know quiet a lot about the subject.
And also I served 18 months on a MTB in the Norweagen Navy, and lived by the sea all my life so I have saltwater in my veins...

Interesting how far we've come in 100 years. The "wild west" was still somewhat present in 1902 as well. Wyatt Earp was still alive as was Chief Sitting Bull I believe. AC electricity had been invented only 20 years earlier by Nikola Tesla and some cities still used dangerous bare wired dc current,provided by Edison Electric, to power their lights and trolleys.

America had only been a country for 126 years

And to put in perspective (for me at least) as to how short a time ago that was, relative to the average life now.
My Great Grandmother who past away several years ago had been born in Germany just 5 years prior and moved to America shortly after that.
We have a gentlemen in my church who was 15 years old in 1902 He's still LIVING and able to tell about Horses and wagons and buckboards It must be like waking up in a dream to him to see how far we've come since he was a child.
