I've been in plenty of drug-friendly environments. You still have to use your own judgment there. Just because it's suddenly okay for everyone else, does that suddenly mean you should lax your own standards? That's your own personal weakness.

Me, I've stood on my own when I had to. Never regretted it.

Well, a lot of people are just followers, doing whatever they think is the thing to do at the time. I don't think this means they deserve to rot for a dumb social mistake. Leadership is called for to make it unacceptible in every way, unfortunately, things seem to be going in the opposite direction.

A "dumb social mistake" is hitting on somebody's girlfriend. Exposure to mind-altering chemicals is a serious decision. Hanging with the wrong crowd doesn't change what those chemicals do to your body.

Would you expect a twelve year old latchkey kid to have as much wisdom as you do? These are the people who need protecting, and all our society offers is whatever sells.. like you said, the chemicals affect your body the same whether you are a dumb kid with no supervision or a wise old man who knows better.

holy shit thats awful! im really very very sorry to hear the trouble you and your family are going through. hope all is better in the end. ::hugs::

and as for getting hits its easy. me and a friend once was offered to buy 150 hits for $400 it was a full sheet, i think it was 150..its been awhile. ive only tried the drug once or twice, had good experiences but i knew better then to continue on. i had a red mickey mouse and a black diamond or tear drop maybe.. hell.. cant remember. i know how i felt at the time. the fact that your brother took 30 is so very extreme. when he gets better im sure you can get down to the bottom of it. figure out why the hell he could or would take 30. you need to talk to the people he was hanging out with that night as well. see if friends know anything about the night or leading up to the night.

            anyway. very sorry hun

Another problem is that cigarettes legal - means they are very easily available to most kids. The age limit is 16 here, so all you need is an older mate, or a big cousin who's just turned 16 and you've got access to as many cigarettes as you want. If that was raised to 21, then you'd half (imho) the number of kids being able to get fags at 13, 14, 15 for instance.

The chances of banning alcohol are very slim, but I can see a future without fags (we're nowhere near it though, the tobacco companies remain too strong).

Hmmm... Where to start? prehappse OY!! Man, I'm really sorry to hear about that. I have to agree with you that pot can really screw life up for a lot of people. It isn't that it only screws life up for the user, but also, as we can now see, the family, friends, and anyone else who cared for the user.

FACT??? Ah this is a word that I love, because it is so very often misused by itiots and ignorant people who love to throw around techno babble. To say that it is Scientific FACT that pot is hamless has to be one of the most itiotic statements that I've ever heard. There is so much lack of truth in that statement that it isn't even wrong! I've read easily over a hundred studies done that show pot to be nothing but harmful. So here's a hint when you use FACTs don't get them off of itiots_of_the_world_unite.com.

This hits a somewhat personal note with me as well, as there is a person whom I care about a great deal, a very great deal who is a user of the "harmless" drug, pot. I have to tell you that I am scared to death, that I may loose this person. I hope and pray to God that I don't. I've seen it happen before. The last person who I saw who used pot the "harmless" drug ended up commiting suicide...go ahead and tell me that it's not harmless...yeah right.

I never said it was a fact that it was harmless.

I said it was a fact that it wasn't PHYSICALLY addictive.

There's real evidence that it is psychologically addictive, but not PHYSICALLY.

Nicotine will make you shake, sweat, and have palpitations if you go without it even for a few hours once you're hooked.

Pot, on the other hand... never gave anyone withdrawal.

He is right on this, I also find that you feel refreshed in the morning if you go to bed after your buzz wears off, cause it puts you into a deep sleep and you wake up feeling great!

But I really feel bad for what happened, I hope all goes well.

                      Gurm-
Pot can give u withdrawl. No Probs.
Maybe not after a couple of hours, but after 24hrs i can guarantee a couple of people i know would be ready to do anything for a toke.

The big bad here is Nicotine. Over here, Pot is smoked with Tobacco.!!!
I started smoking cggies at 12, cos they were cool!!!
The french seemingly are a bit retarded when it comes to ciggies, cos the usage in under 18's gets higher every year.
I just quit ciggies this year (3 days ago).
Its a bitch. a big bitch.

Did you know Nicotine is as addictive as Heroin?
                      and its legal?!!
                      Pot does not have Nicotine.
For Gods Sake, they ADD it to cigarettes!!!!!

Pot by itself is not considered dangerous.
The Tobacco is on the other hand.

You have to buy pot off someone, he usually sells other shit too. one day he's gonna say, here, try this dude, its somethin else!
And thats it. No payment, its free.
Ever seen a junkie refuse free drugs? even really shit free drugs?

You can hate all drugs, but the only ones that can really get to you are the legal ones. "Its only a cigarette!!! I can stop when i want to!!"
Yeah, an this is me 15 years on, trying my best to get rid of that shit.

And thank the state for kindly taking its share of the winnings as taxes. The UK has some of the highest taxes on tobacco. COOL!! I smoked less when i was in the UK, it costs more, you can't afford it.
Even tho i bought smokes instead of food for a couple of days....

Muwahahaha! Glad I'm not the only one to think of that. This sounds like an endless debate. Does pot lead to harder drugs? Does Alcohol? I think with everything else, it varies from person to person.

                            Uhmm...

                            1) I'm sorry for you Jammrock, even if I feel that someone capable of going for 30 hits must have some problems. And, if you think he is not so stupid, investigate over his friends. Sometimes people can be nasty...

                            2) Don't want to discuss drugs too much but...I hate cigarettes. It's not a problem if a drug lead to another or what the hell...
                            Cigarettes are an insult.

Worst thing about cigarettes is they don't really have a significant mind-altering effect beyond the addiction. I've tried 'em before out of pure curiousity and I was like, "What's the point?" At least alcohol had a noticable effect you can feel, even in moderate quantities (not that it's a good thing when used in improper situations.) And I just read the other day about "Wine for the homeless"...
