    Another one.

    1) I'm trying to open a 250mb word file it won't open.

Say no more I bet the machine has only got 128mb at most. We can open it after a period of time while it transfers itself across the network.

How about those that answer a question, get a good answer then are back two weeks later asking the same thing all over again?

Also users have now got into a habit of ringing the doorbell to the computer centre even though the door is open next to it.

Do they ring the doorbell just as a courteousy and then walk in? Or do you have to "answer the door"?

Personally, I knock before entering a coworker's cubicle...and I appreciate the same in return.

At least you haven't been fixing SQL Slammer viruses and Xerox printer drivers that are so poorly written that they are causing Office applications to crash just by opening them if the Xerox printer is set as default.

No I leave that for someone else. We did loose a lot of time over code red if I remember correctly. I think about three working days with all the people involved. I spent one morning trying locate servers that had been registered to one user but then passed on and they hadn't bothered to tell anyone. Or appointed admins that hadn't been told they were admins.

Man I am glad I don't use SQL!

How about this guy, calls me every week, and asks the same question.

I can't get into my email. Go to this web address *gives link*

                      Ok.

Next week, "I can't get into my email."

Computer Teacher - They keyboard is not working.

Tech - *Walks over to computer and looks behind to find the connector has come loose and reconnects the keyboard. Couldn't you have checked the back of the computer and plugged it in yourself?

Computer Teacher - That's not my job.

                          Same Teacher and Tech:

Computer Teacher - The headphones are not working.

Tech - *Confused as they were working the previous day checks the back of the machine to find that they were plugged in wrong. Did you unplug them?

Computer Teacher - They weren't working. So I tried to fix them.

Tech - All you had to do was turn the volume up.

                          My thoughts:
Didn't this teacher say fixing things was not her job anyway?
