Ben, it seems to be a regular thing on this board for people to be critical (and in some cases aggressive) towards people who tell them what they dont like to hear. Chick from Chickshardware spilled the beans last year on the G550 and was absolutely slaughtered.

There probably wasn't much reaction to this thread because the MURCers were already basically resolved on the issue after Ben's defense of his statements.

maybe they will release it in about a year or 2

I don't think matrox will release the parhelia now and a few month's later a die shrink with dx9 features on

        this isn't nvidia
well, i think you can compare the parhelia to the g200: it is a brand new core with more potential, than the first iteration of the core will show.
and(i think), like the g200, it will get a promising refresh a year later(the g400 was basically a g200 refresh with twice the bandwidth+features) so a high speed parhelia-refresh + extra features, that would be matrox style.
after that they may make bussines-versions.

i didnĀ“t mean a few months later, but MUCH later.

my concern was, that even the next refresh MIGHT not be dx9 compliant, as that might require a redesign of the core, and not just a refresh.

at there aren't many games that use directx 8.1

I think Dx9 games will be released in 2 years or so

so dx9 won't be much of a problem

I don't think you can compare the Gxxx evolution
            with the Parhelia's , I think

do you think matrox has changed that much?

was their withdrawel to the bussines-market voluntarily or just damage-control because of the g800 fiasco?

                Gamespots reveals Parhelia's clockspeed??

That surpised some of us here as well. In any case, low 200's seems about right.
                i guess its official.

yes, it seems like the clockspeed will be in the low 200Ā“s, and under 250mhz.

well, haig seems surprised too, judging from his comment.
i wonder if it was a non-intentional leak, maybe some pr-guy is in trouble now...
it is not the first time they talk to much:

In a more nebulous statement, the rep said, "Remember when G400 MAX first came out, and it was fastest thing and looked best? We are doing that again in first half 2002. We will be kings of 3D again, until someone jumps past us again. You know how 3D is." Sounds like G1000 will be a kicker next spring. Here's hoping Matrox can field a six-month cycle and get back in the game.

it was intentional. Guys I apparently got the same email from Matrox PR that Gamespot did. They specifically asked me to post the projected clockspeeds .

i believe you, did they say why they wanted to reveal the clockspeed?
                            just curious.

i have seen countless reviews of the g400max, where the reviewers said the clockspeed was 166mhz(and not 150mhz), and matrox didnĀ“t seem to care back then.

Yes, apparently , they didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea that the Parhelia would be a 300+ Mhz monster. It still will perform great (having witnessed it firsthand), they just didn't want any kind of disappointment after it was released.

When I 1st saw Ben's post, I thought to myself who the heck leaked this out becuase

                                a) we never give out clock speeds
                                b) it's accurate
                                c) there was no talk internally about releasing any clock speeds to the public

I later found out that this was done legit in order not for anyone to expect a 300 clock value and then get dissapointed.
