Just finished reading Haig's reply on the matrox forum:

CaineTanathos: so no 250 standard ?
Haig: You can probably get that by O/C'ing it.
            Mmm... overclocking goodness

Does anyone actually believe that this card will overclock much? Personally I would prefer to have it run stably at 220mhz.

i am sure some people will manage to get some high speeds out of it just for benchmarking, but i reckon it will go up around 10% over stock stably with good cooling.

I hope 14 % overclock is possible, then I will have my 250Mhz
Hey! You're talking to me all wrong! It's the wrong tone! Do it again...and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron

I somehow have a feeling that the parhelia will oc pretty well with some good cooling. Don't ask me why, it's just a feeling I have

In any case, who cares about clock speeds??!?
It's only the performance I care of - at what clock speed they achieve this doesn't matter...

(thinking of the P4 here, I recently got a 2GHz Northwood and this d*mn cripple-CPU is really noticeably slower than my slightly oc'ed Athlon1700+!!)
But we named the *dog* Indiana...

indiana overclock your northwood too then
                              they are made for it

                              again some fiction roadmap

here is what they write about ati new card:

"ATI Radeon 9x00 (R300) is expected to be released in September. The Radeon 3 is expected to be a fully DirectX 9 capable part, featuring a 350Mhz core and 400Mhz memory clock manufactured on a 0.15 micron process. The R300 is expected to feature 8 pixel pipelines with 3 texture units per pipeline, giving a raw fillrate of 2.8GPixels/s and 8.4Gtexels/s (at 350Mhz). The available memory bandwidth at 400Mhz DDR will be 12.8Gb/s.

Less powerful versions of the R300 core are expected to be available for the budget and business markets. The RV300 core will feature 4 pixel pipelines, as opposed to 8, and will have a less powerful geometry engine. The RL300 will be the least powerful member of the Radeon 3 series, providing an even less powerful geometry engine."

So lets take a look at the numbers
2.8GPixels/s and 8.4Gtexels/ wow that much eh, ah ok lets see the memory bandwith , what only 12,8 Gb/s

isn't that a bit funny , more than the double texture fillrate of a P. with half the bandwith (ok a bit more ) of a parhelia ...

                              lets talk about efficiency:
                              which one to choose
the R300 who throws away performance
or the parhelia who has I think (just like the G400/max) has the highest efficiency ...

                              Go matrox , go Matrox
Hey! You're talking to me all wrong! It's the wrong tone! Do it again...and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron
