Hey ZokesPro, that's not only a Montreal thing. We use that slang pretty much everywhere here.

Parhelia Two would makes sense though, because the pronunciation is similar to P2. Maybe they'll only speed up the core clock to compete with NVidia/ATI. I hope they'll lower their prices, too, because 550$ CAD is a ludicrous price, especially when the company is so close from here.

I don't know how Matrox will call it but I at least partially know what's the difference between Parhelia and "New Revision" (I am not sure if it is codename or something but two sources used that same name.) and... umm...

Referring to the new revision of Parhelia, I agree. That will be the 8X part with other fixes as I spoke about in one of my previous editorials.

The rant of the 256mb version being shelved in favor of a 64mb striped version only to have the 256mb version released 48 hours later and no 64mb as of yet leaves your crystal ball insights to be desired. As stated, with all due respect as you are the catalist of this forum. But seriously, should we all call for the heads of Matrox as per the 64mb P prediction, our should I sing the praises of the Great White North as all those above me have, due to this last post? You have as much stated in your last post that Pitou is NOT P2, but you can see from the desperation of these posts what a stir you have caused.
As for me I hope its something good but my hopes are not sky high.
I like the P. But I do NLE and it is outstanding in that regard. And it plays todays games very well. And if I've learned anything from PC tech it is buy what runs what you want today, because if you pay for what promises gains in the future your throwing your money away!
I have to think viewing the posts above that most are not thinking, build the P2 so I can buy one because P1 is so bad. But because right now the P1 isn't #1 and being wimpy school-girls this hurts our ego's even if its good business for Matrox.

With all due respect, the information I had at that time was accurate. Don't believe for a minute that the 256MB you see now on the site was the same card I was referring to. The revised Parhelia (AKA 8X parhelia)256 was to be canned in favor of releasing a 64MB parhelia in its place. This changed, and I updated the info in the thread (if you bothered to read) as much. The very same chip that is to be on this 256MB is the same as the current Parhelia, not the 8X, which is a bit different (higher clocks, 8X, fixes).

Those that have read my predictions and news know my information to be fairly sound, and of course these predictions can and do change at times, even sometimes due to the response gathered here.

Who said anything about singing praises? The others in here are the ones who are doing the speculating at the moment. I will post the information when I am sure I have as much as I feel fit to post. Sure, I could go ahead with what I have, but I want to do some cross-checking and get all the facts and timelines together to give everyone who reads a good idea of what to expect. It's not easy to get information out of Matrox, in fact, it's much like trying to pry open the trunk on a benz with a screwdriver.

I did not state that. You are very confused it appears. The new REVISION of Parhelia (8X, higher clocks, fixes) is NOT Parhelia 2. Read my editorials and the corresponding threads to get up to speed. Don't have any high hopes of me apologizing for causing a stir. I will give the news as Ant and I see fit to do. If it stirs the pot, so be it. Rest assured, Pitou references has definitely stirred the pot, you just cannot see it. I may have made a mistake by posting this prep blurb since it has caused a few turkeys inside of MTX to become a little uneasy. This just means it will take more time to confirm what I already know.

I couldn't have said it better. The intentions of updating news here is not to prevent people from purchasing other cards or current cards. Parhelia is a good card, and really not all that expensive. Yes, it has a few of its own quirks, but overall it is a jewel of a card.

funky-d-munky, i think VigilAnt was confirming to Nappe1 that indeed Matrox want to get the Revised P1 out in time for the holiday season. And he also confirmed that the Revised P1 is not Pitou. Like the earlier news articles on the main page said, there will be a revised P1, and possibility of a P2 later on. Different products.
