Haig got me on that idea to check the influence of the psu, by his first 'diffuse' statement to this theme, a half year ago.
And it turned out, that in those cases I tried, rock solid psu seem to reduce the issue in fact to a minimum. On that 'stabilized' systems, one's my (primary) workstation, you only realize the bandings on white or 'near white' backgrounds, when windows with high fps 3D applications are running. In games or prof. 3D all seems fine...

I'm thinking about a P650 + m3d combo ...
I think i said that quite a while back anyhow, its interesting!
wow.. this is great news...... how about performance.... i think it should be better than the g550 but how much better?
Don't even compare P with G550 You know they are 2 generations apart (DX 8.1 vs. 6.1). Me thinks the P6/7x0 will have performance close to the GeForce FX 5200 / 9000
About the avatar... Well, I saw the short movie in the cinema (was shown before Monsters Inc.). During that short movie (nobody knew that it would be shown, and nobody had seen the short before), *ALL* of the people in the room were laughing aloud. One almost couldn't follow the short because of the laughter. So when I checked Pixar's website, and noticed the movie was downloadable (then only partly, don't know about now), I got the idea of using it as an avatar... (I do intend to make it animated, but getting the frames out of a mov-file isn't that easy). I put the link to pixar in my signature, sort of as a reference.

pixar Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow. (James Dean)
Right, it's funny. I got it as bonus on the Monsters Inc. DVD.
Well, when downloading a movie as QT-mov you should be able convert it with QTplus to an uncompressed avi, which should be editable with virtualdub. That might be quite easyer.
