Haig got me on that idea to check the influence of the psu, by his first 'diffuse' statement to this theme, a half year ago.

And it turned out, that in those cases I tried, rock solid psu seem to reduce the issue in fact to a minimum. On that 'stabilized' systems, one's my (primary) workstation, you only realize the bandings on white or 'near white' backgrounds, when windows with high fps 3D applications are running. In games or prof. 3D all seems fine...

        P800

        I'm thinking about a P650 + m3d combo ...
I think i said that quite a while back anyhow, its interesting!

wow.. this is great news...... how about performance.... i think it should be better than the g550 but how much better?
Don't even compare P with G550 You know they are 2 generations apart (DX 8.1 vs. 6.1). Me thinks the P6/7x0 will have performance close to the GeForce FX 5200 / 9000

          VJ alias Jörg,

is there a certain reason for selecting the nice bird from Oscar short movie 'for the birds' as avatar?

Thanks about the PSU info !

About the avatar... Well, I saw the short movie in the cinema (was shown before Monsters Inc.). During that short movie (nobody knew that it would be shown, and nobody had seen the short before), *ALL* of the people in the room were laughing aloud. One almost couldn't follow the short because of the laughter. So when I checked Pixar's website, and noticed the movie was downloadable (then only partly, don't know about now), I got the idea of using it as an avatar... (I do intend to make it animated, but getting the frames out of a mov-file isn't that easy). I put the link to pixar in my signature, sort of as a reference.

Right, it's funny. I got it as bonus on the Monsters Inc. DVD.

Well, when downloading a movie as QT-mov you should be able convert it with QTplus to an uncompressed avi, which should be editable with virtualdub. That might be quite easyer.

Or try the RAD video tools. Or just get a key to turn QT into QT Pro, which can export movies to .AVI

                  Hmmm,

just tried to extract it but the 'ftb press kit' qt mov (that's the sneak preview) won't like it to be exported... Suspicious!

Normally that's no problem. Hope it works with the full movie.

Ok, there might be other possibilities, too...

                      Thanks az,

that's what I ment with 'QTplus': QT Pro.

But here you'll get the unexpected export trouble with that certain movie file.

RAD video tools are functioning with it, just tried it out (at least for the video, but that's that we wanted here...). - Good hint, az.

VJ, get Adobe After Efects, open movie (.mov) and dump/export frames to image (.tiff) sequence.

Than just fire up Adobe Imageready (part of Photochop) and layer selected images and turn them into animated .gif (help is pretty clear on that).

Should be an hour of two of work.
