Originally posted by KvHagedorn So do you like Canada more than Denmark? We have a travelogue tape with Denmark on it which we use as an HDTV demo .. looks like it's beautiful there, and the people seem very friendly. Taxes might be a bit high though..
Although Denmark is a really pretty place to visit, the taxes there are ridiculous.. the social assistance program laughable, as you can make more on social assistance than on a minimum wage ( especially true if you have kids).. no incentive to make anything out of yourself, as they will tax you back to everyone elses level...
That said, the people there are nice, and I still have friends there, I still prefer Canada..Canadian wilderness compared to Danish "wilderness".. no comparison, here you have real winters with snow, not just slush which melts in a week, summers here are generally warmer. As for people here, I find them to be quite nice.. alot of immigrants around, so people are very tolerant of other cultures, which I remember not really being the case in Denmark ( not officially offcourse )
Concidering a move to scandinavia KvH?

Sure, why not.. as long as I'm poor anyway. Going on the dole might give me time to write that best-seller, then once I'm rich I can move to Monaco.
I wish you luck then.. personally I will stay here
are you still concidered enough of a scandinavian to be able to move there with no problems?.. ( your mom being Norwegian as far as I recall )...

Mom is half Norwegian, and when her other grandparents left Holstein, it was actually still part of Denmark. Father is English. Dunno if such long ago immigration counts for anything there though.
(This will probably never happen, but Denmark does look really inviting.)

Most of us don't so he shouldn't either
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."
Its pretty nice, here in Denmark.
We have our issues, but theres still soo many contrasts, in this little kingdom, that you wont easily get bored.
Just take a trip to greenland, and live and work there for a few years. That will raise your financial status a few nothces.
The faero islands are nice as well. And although Iceland seceded(sp?) from Denmark while we where occupied by the Germans, they still speak danish (and THEY have the highest number of computers per capita, in the world).
Right now, tho' the weather is real hot. Not "torch my forrests" hot, but real hot. Too hot for my tastes. (35 degrees C.).
Still not quite as hot as here (39 degrees C today). I heard London had its all time high temperature yesterday (only 35 deg.) Hard to imagine that is as high as it has EVER gotten there. That's a relatively cool summer day in Texas. I also can't imagine why the rails would be buckling in the heat there, endangering trains. They seem to work fine in the southwestern U.S. Different steel formulations?
